POSITION #150-CRT-05-26:7th Grade ELA Teacher/MTSS InterventionOrchard Middle School1.0 FTE Non-Continuing ContractBeginning the 2026-2027 School YearPosition SummaryThe dual-role ELA Teacher and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Interventionist is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-based English Language Arts to 7th grade students while also leading targeted literacy and/or math interventions. This individual will use data to identify learning gaps, design Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports, and collaborate with the grade-level team to ensure all students meet or exceed grade-level proficiency.Key Responsibilities1. Core ELA Instruction (Tier 1)Plan and execute rigorous, engaging lessons aligned with state standards (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).Foster a classroom culture that promotes a love for reading and critical thinking.Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse learner population, including ELL and Special Education students.Collaborate with other ELA teachers to improve learning for all students.2. MTSS & Intervention LeadershipData Analysis: Regularly analyze various forms of data.Targeted Support: Facilitate small-group interventions focusing on phonics, fluency, comprehension, or writing stamina.Progress Monitoring: Maintain accurate and up to date records of student progress to determine the effectiveness of interventions and adjust accordingly.Collaboration: Lead or participate in PLC meetings to discuss student growth and intervention needs.3. Professionalism & Partnership* Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress in both core curriculum and intervention plans.* Collaborate with colleagues to align Tier 1 instruction with Tier 2/3 supports.QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Washington State certification with appropriate endorsement. Experience working with middle school students is preferred. PBIS experience is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred. Middle school experience preferred. Technology knowledge is crucial. Good communication skills and ability to follow written and oral directions. Patient, flexible, self-motivated, positive social skills and a calm personality. Ability to relate well to students, parents, and staff. Able to work collaboratively with and take direction from program teaching staff. May require prolonged sitting or standing.
