Position Title: Tennis InstructorDepartment: Parks & RecreationClosing Date: Position is open until filled.Starting Wage:Group Instructor $20-$21/per hour, Private Lessons $40/hourHours and Schedule:Afternoon and Evening Summer classesPosition Summary:The Village of Villa Park is looking for an experienced tennis instructor to teach at the North Tennis Courts at Willowbrook High School. Applicants must enjoy working with children and adults and possess a working knowledge of the rules of tennis. Applicants must possess the ability to work with a variety of age groups with varying abilities. Applicants must possess good communication and problem-solving skills.Duties and Responsibilities:Arrive promptly 15 minutes before tennis starts.Responsible for maintaining safety at all times, responding to emergencies and administering first-aid as necessary.Supervises, leads, and instructs beginner and intermediate level tennis for children and adults.Teach age-appropriate rules, skills, techniques, sportsmanship, strategies, and etiquette of tennis.Display/model appropriate behavior, emphasizing sportsmanship for all participants and encouraging participation regardless of skill level.Maintain order, safety and security of self, participants, courts, equipment, and supplies and report tennis needs to the Program Supervisor.Make a reasonable effort to independently solve problems, referring problems beyond your comfort to the Program Supervisor.Qualifications:Must be a minimum 21 years of age.Must have strong knowledge of tennis rules, techniques, and philosophiesMust have experience instructing children and adults in beginning and intermediate tennisMust have strong leadership and organizational knowledge and experienceMust possess the ability to relate well to the public and other staff membersMust be able to respond to emergencies.Must be First Aid/CPR/AED certified or obtain prior to the start of the class.To Apply:Please complete this online applicationAny questions related to the position can be directed to Ryan Weiler, Program Supervisor at rweiler@invillapark.comThe Village of Villa Park provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
