Phlebotomist

CVP is seeking Phlebotomists to join our team in providing our Nation's Veterans with onsite clinical laboratory services at the Fresno VA Medical Center (VA Central California Health Care System), located at 2615 E. Clinton Ave., Fresno, CA 93703.The Phlebotomist will provide routine and STAT testing support on blood, urine, and other body fluids in support of the facility's Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (P&LM) Service. This position requires rotating 8-hour shifts, including morning, evening, and graveyard shifts, as well as weekends and Federal holidays.Collect, transport, process, and evaluate specimen suitability for testing, including receiving, delivering, and storing specimens for all lab sectionsPerform routine and STAT venipunctures and other specimen collection procedures in support of clinical chemistry, histology, toxicology, immunology, coagulation, hematology, urinalysis, and microbiology testingFollow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care, making every effort to prevent falls and patient injury caused by acts of commission or omission in the delivery of careReport all patient safety incidents and comply with all applicable VA, Joint Commission (TJC), and American Hospital Association (AHA) standards of care and professional standards of the healthcare industryAccurately document and maintain patient records and maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and all applicable federal confidentiality and privacy laws, including the Privacy Act (5 U.S.C.552a) and 38 U.S.C. 7332Maintain privacy and confidentiality and safeguard medical recordsMust be a U.S. citizen and eligible to successfully undergo a government-sponsored background investigationCurrent, valid phlebotomy certificationMust be certified as a Phlebotomy Technician by the State of California (CPT I or CPT II)Minimum of 6 months of direct patient care experience performing venipunctures in a clinic or hospital settingCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationStrong communication skills and English fluencyMust be capable of meeting the physical demands of the positionLocationFresno VA Medical Center, 2615 E.
