Campaign Manager

The Senate Democratic Leadership Fund is recruiting Campaign Managers for competitive state senate campaigns. As a key leader on the campaign team, the Campaign Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functions of the campaign and successful implementation of the campaign plan. Campaign Managers are specific to the geography of Senate Districts. Certain districts may require relocation. Compensation: $5,000 - $6,000/mo, commensurate with experienceResponsibilities include but are not limited to:Campaign Plan: Work with SDLF to draft and implement a winning campaign plan that outlines the campaign’s efforts through Election Day, including fundraising, canvassing, phonebanking, volunteer recruitment, district outreach, endorsements, and local media relations. Scheduling & Management: Manage the candidate’s time by scheduling times for canvassing, fundraising calls, media and endorsement interviews, and public appearances. Ensure the candidate’s schedule is accurate and maximally efficient, and ensure the candidate has the preparation and information needed to succeed. Fundraising: Conduct donor research to draft and implement a goal-oriented fundraising plan including direct mail solicitations, candidate phone calls and meetings, political action committee donations, and fundraising events. Staff the candidate during fundraising calls and at events.Volunteer Recruitment and Management: Using the candidate’s personal contacts, county parties, and local connections, build and train a team of campaign volunteers.  Secure commitments throughout the cycle and assign relevant tasks.  Field Planning and Executing: Draft and implement a grassroots field plan that ensures the campaign reaches weekly goals and benchmarks to target voters before election day. Meet personal voter contact goals each week. Supervise field staff and volunteers to ensure the campaign meets voter contact objectives.Financial Stewardship: In consultation with SDLF, build an overhead budget that prioritizes the availability of resources for paid media. Track spending against budget and ensure the campaign can meet financial obligations. Communications: Serve as the campaign contact for local and statewide media. Coordinate with SDLF and campaign consultants to draft press releases, and prepare the candidate for press opportunities. Maintain the candidates’ social media platforms and website. Assist with drafting response for Voter Pamphlet Statement. Contribution and Expenditure Tracking: Work with the campaign Treasurer to establish and maintain accurate records of bank account, contributions and expenditures, and assist the Treasurer with contribution and expenditure report filings when needed.Required Qualifications:Attention to detail and strong organizational skills;Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines;Great communication skills, both written and verbal;Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment;Ability to work effectively and tactfully with the public;Ability to stay calm when working under pressure;Excellent oral and written communication skills;Commitment to electing Democrats to the Oregon SenatePreferred Qualifications: Previous experience working on a political campaign, especially legislative campaignsExperience canvassingExperience managing staff or volunteersGeneral understanding of the Oregon political landscapeSpanish language proficiencyTo Apply: Submit a brief, one-page cover letter expressing why you’re interested in this position, highlighting relevant past experience and qualifications along with your resume to melissa@oregonsenatedemocrats.com.  We know there are great candidates who won’t fit everything we’ve described above, or who have important skills we haven’t thought of.
