The State of New Hampshire, Department of Administrative Services, Division of Plant and Property has a full-time vacancy for Maintenance Assistant. Summary: Performs skilled maintenance and repair work on state buildings and grounds and maintains the operating condition of machinery and equipment. See Per 405.01 . 18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree 36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree 54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree Minimum Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential. Experience: Two years of experience in general maintenance and repair work associated with one or more of the following areas: carpentry, electricity, painting, plumbing, masonry, sheet metal work, welding, auto repair, excavation and/or site work, landscaping, or related trade experience. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education. License/Certification: Must possess a driver's license appropriate to the type of vehicles driven. Special Requirements: Must be in good physical condition with normal strength and agility. Must be willing to work flexible work schedule to keep state agency buildings clear of snow or to change hours during any special emergency period. Responsibilities: Provides the general care and maintenance of the state buildings inside and outside to ensure that state facilities are maintained in a proper and safe condition. Operates lawn and snow removal equipment to maintain state-owned grounds and facilities for appearances and safety. Cuts and trims grass and hedges, plants and maintains gardens and shrubs or cuts and clears brush to ensure state grounds are properly landscaped and maintained in a neat and orderly appearance. Operates loader, backhoe, and powered broom/snow blowers, and makes field repairs of associated equipment. Assists building trades with interior building maintenance including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and mechanical system maintenance to ensure that building systems are in proper working order. Performs small engine repairs, emergency repairs to include fabrication, welding and regularly scheduled maintenance. Drives vehicles to make deliveries and pick-ups from state and suppliers, to move equipment and to remove rubbish. Installs and moves furniture, partitions, equipment, and cabling to minimize cost. Repairs small equipment and checks vehicles to observe the need for preventive maintenance and up keep of the equipment and vehicles.
