The person in this position is responsible for laboratory duties, obtaining and maintaining patient dental histories and escorting patients. The Dental Assistant is responsible for providing quality, compassionate care to patients consistent with the policies and procedures set by the organization.Main Responsibilities:Greet patients with compassion and a friendly faceEscort patients to and from front desk and procedure room/recovery areaObtain dental history and/or records from patient (review patient health history), ensure that the health history is updated for all returning patientsRecord patient charting and all physician notes in the Electronic Medical Record as directedEnsure the physician has reviewed treatment record, consents, and health historyPrepare patients for examinationsActively participate in the patient's experience by striving to keep your patient focused on optimal treatment while attending to their individual concerns and promoting the good qualities of your physicianMaintain a clean, sterile, and cheerful environment where your patients feel comfortable; prepare patients for treatment, and assist the doctors - thereby enabling them to provide efficient, quality dental treatment.Hand instruments and materials to oral surgeon and keep patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devicesHold airways during surgery and monitor patients during recoveryRecords findings and change barriers during surgeryPrepare tray setups for dental procedures and maintain adequate supply levels in each operatory, replenishing as neededComplete radiographs and intra-oral pictures of patients as appropriateSterilize instruments/equipment as neededClean each operatory in accordance with the American Dental Association guidelinesPerform laboratory duties: molds, grinding, prepare materials for making molds, etc.Use patient first values in assisting patients with needsInstruct patients on postoperative and general oral health careEnsure to follow policies and procedures set by Holston Medical GroupMaintain communication with Dentist/Oral Surgeon to ensure that patients' needs are taken care ofMaintain an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company policyMaintain strict compliance with State, Federal, and other regulations, (e.g., OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, HR policies and practices)Education/Experience/Knowledge:High School diploma or equivalent requiredDA/RDA preferred0 -2 years' experienceCPR certifiedMust be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the dental fieldMust possess excellent communication skillsAbility to work in a team environment and collaborate with othersWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
