Athletic Trainer

The ideal candidate will share this commitment and bring enthusiasm for working in a practice dedicated to closing gaps in care for this population.This position is designed to provide direct physician support in an outpatient sports medicine clinic. The Athletic Trainer will function as an integral extension of the clinical care team, assisting the Sports Medicine Physicians with day-to-day clinic operations, coordination of patient care and procedural tasks. Additionally, there will be opportunities to participate in sideline sports coverage and elite athlete care coordination. This is a dynamic and growing role with the potential for expanded responsibilities as the needs and programming of WHSP Medical continue to evolve.Key Duties & Responsibilities: Clinical Support·     Assist the Sports Medicine Physician with clinic workflow (e.g., patient intake, documentation support, patient education and follow-up)·     Provide procedural assistance as directed, including support for ultrasound-guided tendon and joint injections, shockwave therapy and other interventional procedures·     Facilitate coordination of care between the physician and other healthcare providers, including physical therapists and medical specialists·     Perform clinical assessments within the athletic training scope of practice, including musculoskeletal evaluations and functional testing·     Educate patients on rehabilitation protocols, injury prevention strategies and return-to-activity guidelinesSideline and Event Coverage·     Provide athletic training services for sideline sports coverage as opportunities are identified and assigned·     Deliver acute injury evaluation, triage and on-field management in alignment with physician-directed protocols·     Coordinate with coaches, athletes, parents and event staff to facilitate appropriate emergency action planning to ensure athlete safetyAdditional Responsibilities·     Contribute to the development and growth of WHSP Medical programming and service lines as needs evolve·     Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards·     Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education as directed·     Perform other duties as assigned that align with the mission and goals of WHSP MedicalRequired Qualifications:·     Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-accredited program·     Board of Certification (BOC) Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing·     Current Massachusetts state licensure (or eligibility for Massachusetts licensure) as an Athletic Trainer·     Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification·     Strong clinical reasoning, communication and interpersonal skills·     Demonstrated alignment with the WHSP Medical mission and a genuine passion for supporting female athletes and advancing sports medicinePreferred Qualifications:·     Additional specialty certifications, e.g., Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) or equivalent·     Prior experience in a physician practice, orthopedic clinic or outpatient sports medicine setting·     Experience with therapeutic exercise programming and return-to-sport protocols·     Experience with sideline or event coverage at the high school, collegiate and/or professional level·     Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems·     Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification What We Offer:·     A supportive, empowering workplace focused on advancing women’s health and athletic performance·     A dynamic environment with athletes, performers and active women of all ages·     Opportunities to learn from and provide exceptional interdisciplinary care together with leading experts in women’s sports medicine, performance and wellness·     Competitive salary and benefits package  WHSP Medical is an equal opportunity employer.
