Faculty – Simulation, Skills Lab, and Educational Training – Nursing (Med/Surg)

Summary:Faculty members are appointed and assigned rank according to established policies and collective bargaining agreements. Specific items such as wages, fringe benefits, and job responsibilities are determined by the College's collective bargaining agreement with the recognized faculty bargaining unit and institutional practices.As professionals in a community college setting, faculty are involved in a variety of instructional and non-instructional activities which contribute to goals and objectives of a comprehensive two-year institution. The following description of faculty duties and qualifications clarifies the expectations of this institution and is not considered complete or exclusive.This position is responsible for coordinating and managing simulation and skills laboratory operations for Health Professions programs, including RN, LPN, and other allied health programs, to ensure effective and efficient operations. This position supports faculty and students by overseeing simulation and educational technologies, maintaining laboratory resources, and ensuring safe, high-quality experiential learning experiences. The following description of duties of faculty members clarifies the expectations of this institution and is not considered complete or exclusive.Working Hours:Primarily daytime hours, with occasional evening hours as required to meet the needs of the program and Division.Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Not an all-inclusive list of duties):1. Prepare and teach courses as assigned by the Division Assistant/Associate Dean.2. On the first day of each course, review and post, via the Learning Management System (LMS), a syllabus that provides, at minimum, the following information:a. Expected outcomes and performance objectives.b. Grading policy.c. Attendance policy - make-up work/tests.d. Schedule of assignments.e. Login information for students to access the College’s LMS.3. Provide the Division Associate Dean with copies of materials listed in Item 2 above.4. Maintain office hours in accordance with the Faculty Bargaining Agreement.5. Participate in student advising and registration.6. Assist students in formulating educational and career plans.7. Assist students with academic or course problems.8. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty and staff.9. Maintain accurate and complete course records and comply with all specified reporting dates.10. Serve on college committees and participate in college governance.Additional Responsibilities: 1. Provide instructional and in-lab support for students and faculty, including skills demonstrations during scheduled instructional sessions.2. Assess student competency in skills as requested by faculty and coordinate remediation when needed.3. Provide training and ongoing support to faculty and staff in the effective use of the Anatomage Table and other technologies, including collaboration to integrate simulation-based learning activities into course instruction and curricula.4. Offer student orientation and assistance in navigating Anatomage software and related learning tools.5. May be assigned teaching responsibilities as needed, including didactic, laboratory, clinical, or simulation instruction, in accordance with program needs, qualifications, and accreditation standards.6. Prepare laboratory materials, digital case studies, and anatomical modules based on faculty instructional plans.7. Schedule, coordinate, and monitor use of simulation and skills lab facilities and equipment. 8. Maintain laboratory inventory, including supplies, equipment maintenance, repair, and replacement. 9.Oversee simulation lab technology, including the Anatomage Table and associated software; troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with Information Technology and external vendors as needed. 10. Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors regarding equipment purchases, repairs, and warranty-related matters. 11. Support community engagement initiatives, partnerships, and potential grant opportunities related to simulation services. 12. Participate in tours, student recruitment events, and program-related activities.13. Assist with budget planning and resource allocation for simulation operations. 14. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean.15. Pursue ongoing professional development related to simulation and nursing education.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and Experience Required Qualifications:• Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.• Minimum of 3–5 years recent clinical nursing experience.• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience working in a healthcare simulation laboratory or simulation-based education environment.Preferred Qualifications:• Certification in healthcare simulation (e.g., CHSE) preferred.• Experience in curriculum development and integration of simulation across courses.• Prior experience in a community college or academic setting.• Experience teaching or supporting simulation laboratory instruction and/or clinical education.• Knowledge of simulation methodologies, acute care skills, and human pathophysiology.• Strong technology skills and experience working with high- and medium-fidelity simulationequipment.• Successful experience in teaching, preferably in an Associate Degree Nursing Program.Certificates, Licenses, Registration:Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania required. Candidates holding an active multistate (compact) RN license must obtain Pennsylvania licensure prior to start of employment.Certified in American Heart Association BLS CPR.Other Skills and Abilities: Experience with, or ability to effectively learn, the use, maintenance, and instructional application of advanced digital anatomy technology, including the Anatomage Table.Demonstrated experience supporting or facilitating simulation-based learning, skills labs, or clinical education.Proficient with educational technology and ability to operate simulation equipment.Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively as part of an academic team.Excellent classroom management and planning skills.Demonstrated teaching and student coaching skills.Commitment to RACC’s mission of providing accessible, high-quality education.Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, other faculty, administration, boards of trustees and the general public.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software and Spreadsheet software.
