Power System Engineer
Senior Power System Studies Engineer RemoteContractRate Range: $50-$55/hour Position Description This position supports engineering activities for renewable energy and transmission projects within the Engineering & Construction (E&C) organization. The selected candidate will be responsible for power system analysis, steady-state and dynamic modeling, and generation and transmission planning for generation, transmission, and substation projects within the E&C group. Job Duties & Responsibilities Create and validate PSSE and PSCAD models for transmission line and generation projects.Perform and review steady state, dynamic, short circuit and other power system analyses for transmission lines and renewable facilities.Perform and review transmission line design studies in PSCAD including line energization, switching overvoltage study, shunt reactor sizing, auto reclosing, etcProvide technical expertise to all aspects of interconnection processes and operational requirements.Work closely with ISO's/Utilities/Regulatory agencies to manage interconnection processes for NextEra facilities.Ensure compliance with regional modeling requirements for new and existing generation and transmission line projects.Develop software tools that enhance system reliability and organizational efficiency.Contribute new designs or techniques that others within the industry regard as major advances in their area of expertise.Ensure implementation of standards, policies, training, and support of organization.Prepare communications, presentations and conduct meetings.Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldExperience with power system analysis tools including PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, TSAT and GE PSLF software.Knowledge of interconnection procedures as defined by ISO's/Utilities/TOs across U.S.Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts such as power flow, stability, voltage regulation, reactive support etc.Strong organizational and communication skillsImpellam Group and its brands are equal-opportunity employers committed to diversity and inclusion.
