Rotordynamics Engineer
Spectra Tech, Inc. is hiring for a Rotordynamics Engineer in Oak Ridge, TN.Position OverviewThe Rotordynamics Development and Testing Engineer will lead engineering process innovation and testing activities to support the manufacturing of gas centrifuges for UF6 enrichment.This role requires a strong background in rotordynamics, dynamic testing, signal processing, and software development. The ideal candidate will follow established engineering protocols while developing new methodologies to improve centrifuge design and production.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the subject matter expert in rotordynamics, applying existing methodologies and developing new techniques to optimize centrifuge design and manufacturingLead experimental investigations and model-based simulations to resolve complex rotordynamics challengesDesign and guide the development of advanced test systems, including:Data acquisition systemsDigital signal processing (DSP) architecturesHigh-speed signal analysis systemsLead dynamic testing initiatives for system balancing, including:Influence coefficient methodsExperimental modal analysisHybrid testing approachesExecute complex engineering projects independently, applying advanced technical judgment and industry best practicesPrepare, document, and present technical reports, including testing protocols, results, and engineering recommendationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experienceORMaster's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of targeted experienceDemonstrated expertise in one or more of the following:Rotordynamics and associated problem-solving techniquesDynamic testing of high-speed systemsDigital signal processing (DSP) methodsSoftware development (Python, C++, MATLAB, or similar)Finite Element Analysis (FEA), such as ANSYSMust be able to obtain a DOE Q ClearancePreferred QualificationsAdvanced degree (MS or higher) in Mechanical EngineeringProven experience leading complex engineering projectsActive DOE Q ClearanceAdditional InformationThis role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge rotordynamic systems and support the advancement of UF6 enrichment technology through both research and production-focused engineering.At Spectra Tech, Inc., our recruitment team is powered by real people in real time-personally reviewing every application with care and integrity.
