Responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities, grounds, and equipment at Devils Sinkhole State Natural Area. Performs preventative maintenance (cleaning/inspecting) of facilities and grounds. Operates and maintains various types of equipment including hand tools, power tools, mowers, tractors, and trucks. Duties include but are not limited to mowing, trimming, trail maintenance, land clearing, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repairs, vehicle maintenance and road maintenance. Assists with enforcing park rules and interpretive programs/special events. Performs basic administrative duties and provides a high degree of customer service. Provides leadership to volunteer staff. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduation from High School or GED. Experience: Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience. Licensure: Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid State driver's license. Acceptable Substitutions: Experience: Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum substitution of two years. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in grounds maintenance or ranch work to include the operation maintenance of mowers, tractors, and power equipment. Experience in facility maintenance such as janitorial cleaning, carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs. Experience in customer service and/or public relations. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of work site safety. Knowledge of facility, equipment and ground maintenance. Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and making minor repairs to park facilities. Knowledge of general custodial duties. Knowledge of natural and cultural resource management. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Skill in effective verbal and written communication. Skill in applying worker safety programs to work situations. Skill in performing minor repairs to vehicles and other equipment. Skill meeting deadlines. Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts. Skill in the use of hand and power tools, mowers, trimmers, chain saws, tractors, vehicles, generators and other mechanical equipment. Skill in training others. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Ability to work as a member of a team. Ability to present natural and cultural resource based interpretive programs. Ability to interpret and assist with enforcing park rules and regulations in a uniform manner. Ability to prepare and complete required reports. Ability to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs. Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program. Working Conditions: Required to work in a public park with day use. Required to work 40 hours per week with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Required to work overtime as necessary. Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs. Required to operate a State vehicle. Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays. Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.
