Job Description
This role is 100% onsite at our facility in Timberlake, NCAbout the RoleVoltage Energy Storage is seeking a hands-on Test Engineer to support the testing, commissioning, and field validation of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and microgrid solutions.This role is execution-focused, requiring strong electrical troubleshooting skills and the ability to work directly with hardware in lab and field environments. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working on-site to bring systems from installation to operational readiness.What You'll DoSystem Testing & CommissioningDesign and execute system-level testing of BESS and microgrid systems, including functional, performance, and safety validationSupport system commissioning, startup, and on-site validation activitiesPerform hands-on testing and system bring-up for integrated systems (inverters, batteries, EMS)Test Setup & Field ExecutionBuild and configure test setups, including wiring, instrumentation, and data collectionWork with electrical systems in a safe and controlled mannerOperate test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and load banksTroubleshooting & Issue ResolutionDiagnose system issues during testing and field operationPerform root cause analysis and support resolution with engineering teamsTrack issues and ensure proper documentation and closureCompliance & SupportSupport testing related to UL, IEC, and NEC requirementsCoordinate with external labs and certification activities as neededEnsure systems meet applicable safety and regulatory standardsCross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with electrical, mechanical, and controls engineersCollaborate with global teams on testing execution and feedbackProvide real-world input to improve system design and reliabilityContinuous ImprovementContribute to improving testing processes and field execution efficiencyCapture lessons learned from field testing and deploymentsSupport development of practical testing guidelines and documentationWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field4-6+ years of experience in system testing, commissioning, or field serviceHands-on experience working with electrical systemsStrong troubleshooting skills in hardware and integrated systemsFamiliarity with basic test equipment and electrical diagnosticsAbility to work independently in field environmentsApplicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. The Company will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of any employment visa, including without limitation, H-1B, O-1,E-3, TN status, or I-485 job portability or similar immigration processesPreferred QualificationsExperience with BESS, solar PV, or industrial power systemsFamiliarity with UL Standards, IEC standards, and NEC codesExperience with commissioning or deploying containerized systemsOSHA safety training or electrical safety certificationExperience working in cross-functional or international teamsWork Environment & TravelAbility to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.Occasional traveling to customer sites and events (traveling up to 25%).
