DescriptionOverviewSummaryEducation Alternatives is seeking van drivers for the Cuyahoga Falls location. Van Drivers are paid hourly and are responsible for driving clients on an agency owned vehicle to and from our sites located throughout the greater Akron/Cleveland area and on field trips to various locations. This position is a part-time hourly position, Monday through Friday. Working Conditions: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking and 10% standing. Other duties may be assigned.Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations for the purpose of resolving or recommending a resolution to the situationBe able to work with clients with emotional and behavioral disabilities and intervene when necessary for the purpose of ensuring order and safetyAssists clients and other passengers (e.g. seating, restraints, special equipment, etc.) for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading from vehicles including both emergency situations and normal transportAdvises clients and other passengers of appropriate behavior for the purpose of reinforcing established guidelines and maintaining passenger safetySafely transport clients to/from their residence to/from their designated drop off point in a timely mannerInforms day treatment personnel and parents of events, policies and/or practices (e.g. schedules tops, established routes, route conditions etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or clarification of proceduresResponds to inquiries from clients, parents, and/or staff for the purpose of providing the necessary information regarding transportation servicesMaintains assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior (e.g. cleaning floors/windows/seats, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safety, appearance, and sanitation of vehicle.Fuels assigned vehicle for the purpose of maintaining vehicle and keeping it in safe operating conditionMonitors passengers during transit for the purpose of maintaining order and ensuring the safety of passengersPerforms first aid as necessary for the purpose of meeting the immediate health care needs of passengersMaintain ongoing communication with staff including: Teachers, Building Directors, Fleet Manager and Director of Transportation for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving informationPrepares documentation (e.g. daily log, incident reports, behavior rating, mileage) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying informationConduct safety checks on van before each departure and submit a daily pre-trip inspection form for the purpose of ensuring the safe operating condition of the vehicle and meeting state requirementsAttend all agency trainings, including quarterly in-service trainings, for the purpose of maintaining skills and meeting agency requirements
