Assistant Kitchen Manager (Hourly) Mandu Korean Restaurant – Washington, DCMandu is seeking an Assistant Kitchen Manager to join our culinary leadership team. This is an hourly leadership position responsible for supporting daily kitchen operations, maintaining food quality, and helping lead our team during service. Mandu has been a cornerstone of Korean cuisine in Washington, DC for nearly 20 years, known for authentic dishes, house-made kimchi, and a vibrant team-driven kitchen environment. Position Summary The Assistant Kitchen Manager works closely with the Chef to ensure the kitchen runs smoothly during prep and service. This role is ideal for an experienced line cook or lead cook who is ready to step into a supervisory role while remaining hands-on in the kitchen. Responsibilities Support daily kitchen operations and ensure smooth service Supervise line cooks and prep cooks during shifts Maintain Mandu’s standards for food quality, consistency, and presentation Assist with prep organization and station setup Monitor ticket times and kitchen workflow during service Ensure proper food safety and sanitation procedures are followed Assist with inventory, ordering, and receiving deliveries Help train and mentor kitchen staff Communicate effectively with front-of-house managers during service Step into stations as needed to support the team Qualifications Previous lead line cook or supervisory experience preferred Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen Strong organizational and communication skills Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards Ability to lead by example and maintain a positive kitchen culture Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays Experience with Korean cuisine is a plus but not required .
