JOB TYPE Full-Time JOB NUMBER 202600001 DEPARTMENT WATER OPENING DATE 03/16/2026 CLOSING DATE 3/29/2026 11:59 PM Eastern DESCRIPTION Under the general supervision of the Water Distribution Manager and the Sewer Collections Manager, performs a variety of skilled technical work in the maintenance and repair of water treatment facilities, sewer pump stations, equipment, and systems; performs related work as required. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs preventative maintenance by inspecting plant facilities and sewer pump stations, equipment, and machinery for wear, leaks, and damage, changing electrical and electronic gauges and switches, adjusting equipment, removing, replacing packing and cleaning, rebuilding, and replacing work parts. Monitors the performance of all equipment, gauges, and charts in the water treatment plant stations and sewer pump stations; maintains, operates, repairs, and replaces equipment as necessary. Records activity, data, and maintenance at all water and sewer pump stations. Performs troubleshooting functions and repairs malfunctions at the water treatment plant; repairs gauges, pumps, filters, and other controls and equipment. Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on sewer equipment, including clearing obstructions and replacing components. Calibrates, modifies, or repairs instrumentation and control equipment, including recorders, flow meter and other water and sewer monitoring equipment. Repairs/replaces check valves. Meets all job safety requirements and standards that pertain to the essential functions of the position. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Maintains the drawings and schematics of electrical and other systems in the water treatment plant and sewer pump stations. Monitors the performance of electrical systems, programmable logic controllers, circuits, or equipment of the water treatment plant and sewer pump stations.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Motor vehicles, bucket trucks, generators, pumps, gauges, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, and detection devices. Forklift, skid steer, trencher, and partner saw. Mobile radio, phone, and calculator. Computer and tablet utilizing Excel, GIS, and OpenGov software and other essential programs.TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : High school diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented by specialized coursework and training in the areas of industrial mechanical equipment maintenance and repair is preferred. Four years of experience in the maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, and electrical systems is preferred. Experience in welding, pipefitting, three-phase industrial electricity, operating, and repairing check valves is preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge: Working knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in sewer pump station and water treatment plant maintenance and operation activities; and thorough knowledge of programmable logic controllers. Skills: The operation of the listed tools and equipment, and the ability to work safely. Abilities: Perform process control calculations; communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing; understand and carry out written and oral directions. Work both independently and collaboratively with other maintenance personnel; accurately read and record data from gauges and meters; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and the ability to maintain continuing eligibility under the City’s driver eligibility standards. Must also possess a valid State of Ohio CDL Class A with Tanker endorsement OR obtain the CDL through the City of Cuyahoga Falls on-the-job entry-level driver training program within six months of appointment to the position.
