The organization is seeking a hands-on Software Engineering Manager to lead a talented team of embedded software engineers.This high-visibility role balances team leadership and mentorship with active involvement in product development, architecture, and technical decision-making. The engineering team builds full-lifecycle software for high-profile products utilized by millions of people worldwide.Location: East Central Illinois (Champaign, IL area) - OnsiteRelocation: Assistance is available for qualified candidates currently residing in the USBenefits: Full corporate package including Medical, Dental, Vision, ADD, and 401KKey ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and grow a talented team of embedded software engineers within a collaborative, Agile development environment.Technical Execution: Remain hands-on in the development lifecycle, driving projects from initial concept through commercialization while influencing architecture and future hardware/software platform decisions.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Marketing teams to successfully bring next-generation solutions to market.Process & Tool Management: Oversee and optimize development workflows utilizing C++, Linux, Windows, Git, Jenkins, and Jira.Profile RequirementsExperience: 10+ years of progressive experience in embedded software development.Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency with C++ along with hands-on experience developing for Linux and/or Windows embedded systems.Leadership Track Record: Proven experience leading engineering teams, whether through formal management roles or strong technical/project leadership positions.Environment Fluency: Solid understanding of full lifecycle software development, continuous integration (Jenkins), version control (Git), and Agile methodologies.Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.Notes: Must be "hands-on C++ and embedded systems" current or within the last 18 months (clearly state experience amount and last used C++).
