The ideal candidate will be proficient in performing all required engineering calculations, including heat load/loss, Full Load Amperage (FLA), and Short-Circuit Current Rating (SCCR) determinations. Candidates should already possess, or be willing to obtain, UL 508A MTR certification. Knowledge of NEMA and IEC standards is highly desirable and will be considered a strong asset.POSITION PURPOSEThe Senior Electrical Engineer will participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) project teams and lead hardware design and development for new product controls, participate in the development for controls (SMART) strategy and roadmap, and execute the controls roadmap.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIESParticipate in New Product Introduction (NPI) project teams as an Electrical representative and Lead NPI electrical projects and provide technical support through the activities listed below:Translate product requirements and specifications into controls hardware designs requirements and design documents that meet product function needs and quality & cost targetsPropose and present optimum Electrical solutions per each NPI controls specificationDesign systems to control fan motors, pumps, valves, safety switches, heating elements, sensors, and other features that require data communication into and out of the CLIENT units for interaction with customer building management systems and other systems on cloud.Develop Electrical system verification and validation plan, and execute the plan. Primary interface with UL for units being tested and certifiedPartner with the product platform teams and controls panel suppliers to create panel drawings, wiring diagrams, bills of material, and system configuratorIndependently work with vendors, contractors to evaluate and qualify suppliers and/or technical proposals to achieve target cost and quality of every Controls projectLead CLIENT internal cross-functional teams discussions where/when ever electrical technical decisions need to be communicated and agreed uponDefine ‘best practice’ rules for hardware development from lessons learned from Controls projects and document the ‘best practice’Establish testing procedure and define pass criteria for Electrical systems, participate in lab testing, and analyze test data to optimize product performance characteristicsLead activities to promote standardization across all business functions for hardware development and testing on controls systemsIdentify and implement product improvements and cost-out opportunities through participating in NPI projects or existing product sustaining projectsIndependently write Electrical related Engineering Change Notices (ECN) to communicate electrical design change and/or hardware design/documentation changesSupport field issues as presented and work to satisfy the customer expectationsPrepare and present Electrical related technical training to all levels of the organizationPropose and present Electrical Strategy and implementation plan to Technology/Product Strategy planning teamsIdentify opportunities and implement improvements for increasing Electrical development velocity and qualityLearn, apply, and keep current with regulatory codes and standards such as IEC, NEC, UL, FM, and associated electrical codes in markets CLIENT participates in globallyKNOWLEDGE & SKILLSBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. MS or PEng certification preferable.6+ years of experience in engineering with technical project management experience, with a minimum of 5 years in electrical cabinet design. UL508A MTR certification preferred5+ years of experience in developing electro-mechanical control systems, experience with HVAC control systems preferredProficiency in technical writing, specifically in electrical specification writing, test plan writing, test plan executionFamiliarity with integrated communications via building management system (BMS) protocols such as BACNet and ModbusDemonstrated capability with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD family of products, experience with Agile work management systems (Jira/DevOps) a plusPrevious experience in laboratory testing processes, including instrumentation and measurement techniques.WORKING CONDITIONSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
