Advocate Manager

Job Description Summary: The Advocate Manager is responsible for the supervision, development and support of the Advocate Team for SCCC. The team consists of 8-10 Advocates, which includes two Advocate Supervisors (each supervise 2-3 advocates), who meet 1:1 with community members through our advocacy and food bank programs. This position directly supervises four Advocate team positions – Advocate Supervisors, Housing and Stabilization Program Coordinator, and the Pathways to Economic Stability Coordinator. This role oversees the disbursement of $1M+ budget of direct financial assistance through the management of front-line advocates. This person provides strategic input for implementing and improving the Advocacy program at SCCC. Responsible for the overall quality of family service plan implementation. Ensure commitment to the Family Resource Center Association (FRCA) Family Pathways Framework. Work closely with members of Leadership in attaining the organization’s mission and goals. This position will provide key representation at community meetings and with community partners. Essential Functions: (An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform) 1. Develop and coach Advocates in their roles, responsibilities and skills to ensure collaboration across program areas, and to ensure that high quality support services are provided. 2. Ensure that Advocates are utilizing Strengths Based approaches with families. 3. Ensure that Advocates are utilizing all community resources and referrals in their family service planning. 4. Monitoring of monthly direct financial assistance budgets 5. Responsible for making fiscally responsible decisions around direct financial assistanceawards to participants. 6. Complete thorough documentation of all work done with participants in Boulder County Community Connect (CC) participant database system. 7. Responsible for ensuring all relevant data metrics for Advocacy program are entered into CC participant database, includes pulling quarterly data audits and supporting Advocates to enter data accurately and in a timely manner. 8. Manage SCCC’s Housing and Stabilization Program (HSP) contract with Boulder County, including participating in the Community Housing Resource Panel as needed and monitoring the HSP budget. 9. Manage, with the support of Chief Operating Officer, other grant contracts specific to Advocacy Program. 10. Collaborate and communicate frequently with Nutrition & Healthy Living Manager and Advocate team on food bank check in process to ensure high quality support to participants and food bank operations. Provide food bank check in backup as needed. 11. Attend interagency and community meetings on a regular basis and as needed. 12. Work closely with Chief Operating Officer and Family Resource Center Association (FRCA) to implement and adhere to Family Resource Center Model of service delivery. 13. Work closely with Community & Family Education, Nutrition and Healthy Living programs and other departments to create a cohesive team. 14. Assist staff and volunteers in navigating challenging situations as requested. 15. Respond to participant complaints in a respectful, strength-based and professional way. 16. Participate in clinical supervision monthly. 17. Meet with families as needed to coordinate service plans and provide support in achieving participant identified goals 18. Conduct home/community visits as needed per family situation. 19. Maintain positive working relationships and regular communications with key community partners, including but not limited to Boulder County Housing & Human Services. 20. Organize and facilitate quarterly East Boulder County Community Resource Alliance Meetings. 21. Cco-facilitate or support a staff member to co-facilitate Family Development Credential class (16 weeks) for county-wide human service professionals on an annual basis. 22. Identify and participate in trainings and activities designed to enhance skills and abilities required for professional development of Advocate staff, including mandatory reporting, motivational interviewing, protective factors, etc. 23. Adheres to and upholds safety workplace practices; demonstrates responsible use of SCCC Information Technology equipment and adheres to SCCC IT protocols. 24. Demonstrates leadership in promoting Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion and supports its organizational goals and initiatives. 25. Attends at least 80% of All Staff and In Service meetings. Bachelor’s degree in the field of Social Work, Child or Human Development, Psychology or other related human services field required or equivalent experience (minimum of 5 years job related experience) 2. 2 plus years supervisory experience. 3. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and multi-task. 4. Flexible, proactive, adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment. 5. Strong computer skills with a willingness to learn new programs and databases. 6. Desired Qualifications: Master's degree in human services related field. Experience practicing in strengths-based client- centered modality. Training and/or experience in Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed service provision, and de-escalation. Familiarity with Substance Use and Mental Health/Illness issues. Bilingual English/Spanish. Strong preference will be given to individuals who have both direct service case management background in addition to management and/or supervisory experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent sitting, Occasional moving, may need to remain in a stationary position in the Food Bank. May have to moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds in the Food Bank.
