Methuen Construction is a leading self performing industrial and heavy civil general contractor with over 65 years of experience We specialize in the construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities industrial facilities and other critical infrastructure projects Serving private municipal state and federal clients across the Northeast we deliver innovative well planned projects that are completed on time and with an uncompromising focus on safety At Methuen we foster a culture of teamwork respect and a can do attitude that values every teammate and stakeholder Methuen Construction is seeking a Laborer to provide essential support to the Construction Operations department This position reports to the Foreman and is not responsible for the oversight of other teammates This is a full time hourly non exempt position Your Role Cleanup of debris grounds and buildingsStripping of concrete framework including removal of exposed tiesUnloading of materials and deliveries to Project SiteHand excavation digging of trenches raking tamping compacting soilPlacing concrete in formwork including horizontal formwork for flatworkVibrating concreteSetting up of ladders means of access scaffolding and plankingWrapping and covering with tarps polyethylene or insulating blanketsMixing mortar and grout including grout beneath structural and mechanical baseplatesBackfilling grading or rakingLaying of drains sewers water distribution PVC conduits or other piping in the trench pipe layerAssembly of manholes catch basins and drainage structures pipe layerTending all other trades including materials handling on site prior to final installationHandling all other trades including materials handing on site prior to final installationHandling and placement of riprap slope protection erosion control and siltation control materialsSpreading and rolling of bituminous asphaltScreeding of concretePatching the holes in concrete surfacesDemolition activitiesHand grading of earth materials curb setting and landscapingSetting and stripping concrete sidewalk formsInstallation and removal of temporary weather protectionHandling rigging and setting of precast concrete slabs planks walls and curbingSand and water blastingApplication of concrete curing compoundsInstallation of insulation dampproofing and moisture barrier materials below or at grade on or beneath concrete walls and slabsConcrete coring and cuttingSheet piling lagging and shoring of trenches and excavationsInstallation and removal of temporary weather protectionFire watch activitiesYour Education and Experience High School or Vocational andor relevant work experienceMinimum 1 3 years of experience within the construction industryWhat You Bring to the Team Proven ability to excel in a fast paced environmentStrong team player with a positive attitudeHard working and motivatedWork EnvironmentPhysical Demands Ability to lift 50 poundsAbility to stand for extended periods of time and safely maneuver around the nearby presence of various construction equipment and vehicles on an active construction sitePrepared to regularly encounter moving mechanical parts high precarious places fumes or airborne particles and a variety of outside weather conditionsAble to climb temporary or permanent stairs and laddersAble to bend squat kneel crawl crouch balance and stoop reach on a regular basisSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focusTravel Job posting location does not guarantee that the position will be in that location;
