POSITION OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking an experienced Fleet Manager. The Fleet Manager oversees the company’s fleet lifecycle, ensuring optimal utilization, safety, cost control, and compliance. This role manages all aspects of fleet operations, including procurement, maintenance, fuel programs, telematics, and driver safety for commercial vans, trucks, and specialty equipment used in commercial/industrial HVAC service and installation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and execute vehicle lifecycle management, including acquisition, replacement, and disposal
Align fleet capacity with workforce and project demands across multiple regions or branches
Oversee preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs for all vehicles to ensure maximum vehicle availability and use
Manage relationships with service vendors and leasing company as well as vehicle insurance company
Ensure fleet complies with federal, state, and local DOT regulations and company safety standards
Maintain up-to-date records for registrations, licensing, permits, and insurance
Develop and enforce driver safety policies and participate in accident/incident investigations
Identify opportunities to reduce expenses on fuel, maintenance, and leasing
Manage telematics/GPS tracking systems to improve routing, driver behavior, and fuel efficiency
Prepare reports on fleet KPIs such as utilization, downtime, cost per mile, and safety metrics; integrate fleet management software and dashboards for real-time analytics
Work closely with Operations, Dispatch, and Field Management to align fleet logistics with operational needs
Other fleet management responsibilities as needed.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Fleet Operations Oversight – Ensure all company vehicles are maintained, operated, and utilized efficiently
Vehicle Maintenance & Compliance – Oversee preventive maintenance schedules and ensure vehicles meet all DOT, OSHA, and other applicable compliance requirements
Team Leadership & Training
ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT
This position reports to the CFO and is an individual contributor role.
The Fleet Manager will work closely with the Safety Team and align closely with field management.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 5-7 years of experience managing commercial vehicle fleets, preferably in HVAC, construction, or mechanical service industries
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or related field, preferred
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle maintenance, and fleet safety programs
Proven ability to manage budgets, vendor contracts, and KPIs for large fleets (1,000+ assets)
Experience managing fleet management software (e.g., Geotab, Fleetio, Verizon Connect)
Background in scaling fleets across multi-state operations including acquiring and off-boarding assets
Experience with Enterprise fleet management a plus
Ability to travel to occasionally, as needed
