Practice Delivery Leader - Civic & Justice

The Civic & Justice Practice Delivery Leader is responsible for overseeing and executing on the Practice strategy for the project performance. With an in-depth knowledge of the Civic & Justice Practice and strong business acumen, the Practice Delivery Leader, in alignment with the Practice Strategy, effectively informs and translates strategy into execution; inspires, supports, and empowers teammates; manages day-to-day operations; identifies and understands business issues to quickly adapt, make decisions, and lead the team through continuous improvement and innovation initiatives to achieve goals and ensure business success. This position works in lock step with the practice strategy leader to build the culture, delivery performance, and client engagement necessary to grow the practice.Successful candidates partner with their Practice Leadership, Market Leaders, Clients, Project Managers, Teammates, Finance and Human Resources to understand challenges and opportunities to deliver strategic, data-backed solutions to support and optimize teammate development, service delivery, client satisfaction and overall organizational success.Attributes to support the NELSON Culture:Go All In. Other duties may be assigned:LEAD, in partnership with Practice Leadership, the Practice, internally, and leverage and evolve the capabilities of the firm while leading and working with other NELSON leadership including Business, Regional, and other Practice Leaders as it relates to their specific practiceWork with Studio Leaders, Project Managers and National Leadership to review and support pricing efforts for high profile RFP responses, MSA responses, etc. to ensure profitability targets and competitive market landscape are balanced appropriatelyWork with Studio Leaders and Project Managers, in conjunction with legal counsel, to review and negotiate contracts, Letters of Agreements, AIA Agreements, etc. to mitigate risk in scope and contractual termsAssessing and analyzing project performance with Studio Leaders to find ways to optimize the business and meet goalsIn partnership with Practice Leadership, identify potential problems and points of friction within the project life cycle and work to find solutions to maximize efficiency and profitabilityEffective communicating with Leadership & Teammates about shifting priorities and projectsIn partnership with HR, provide consistent and constructive feedback to team and provide teammates with opportunities to achieve professional goalsManage resource balancing of talent across the Practice and Nelson-wide, including identifying opportunities for resource sharing across Practices, driving use of Extended Team Partners and/or hiring of new talentIn partnership with HR, develop, participate in, and execute succession planning, including the transition of important client relationshipsMaintain and/or develop key account relationships and/or client relationships as necessary as a part of the Leadership teamCoordinating different teams to foster exchange of ideas and provide cross-team learning opportunitiesMaintaining positive relationships both internal and external, --foster relationships and engage to effectively collaborate to achieve business performance goalsSupporting and informing continuous improvement enhancements, including:Reviewing documentation and contracts are compliant with NELSON standards, escalate issues as neededSupporting the project or account contract performance and process understanding the scope, budget, and quality agreed to by the ClientMonitoring and ensuring Deltek Project & Plan data qualityRequired Knowledge and Skills:Experience in leading & managing people and teams including motivation, empowerment, organization, innovation, integrity, decision making, and delegation.Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of an organizationFinancial acumen including ability to understand financial performance, analyze data to derive insights and take necessary actions, and to prepare and manage project budgetsPractice knowledge including a deep understanding of its industry and clients' needs to deliver service excellenceStrong proficiency in scope writing for proposals and contractsExtensive experience working with legal on contracts and contract negotiationsCommitment to continuous learning and developmentStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookAdept adoption and reinforcement of NELSON's business systems, processes, and tools, including Deltek VantagePoint, Tableau, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.Financial Management:Proven track record of managing teams with financial success (consistently hitting KPIs, meeting revenue targets, etc.)Partner with Sr. Studio Leaders and Sr. Project Managers, to provide superior working knowledge of KPIs on all projects and how that impacts the overall operations of the practice including, but not limited to, effective multiplier, gross margin, profitability, realization, accounts receivableExtensive experience working with legal on contracts and contract negotiationsCertificates, Licenses or Registrations Required:PMP preferred but not requiredEducation / Experience:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Interior Design, from an accredited University15+ years relevant industry experience preferred; or equivalent in appropriate education and experienceExperience with Civic & Justice building types is required. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding and expertise relating to correctional facilities and detention centers; other preferred experience includes: courthouses, municipalities, police and fire stations, city and county buildings, and other public works/public safety buildingsNational salary range: $160,000 - $200,000 (15+ years experience). Additional compensation includes bonuses and benefits (compensation factors are based upon years of relevant experience, qualifications/licensure, education, and location.)
