Fork Truck OperatorOperate fork truck in a safe but expeditious manner to load finished goods on trucks for shipment to customersEssential Job Functions For This PositionFollow all safety and company policies, reporting any issues, accidents or incidents immediately; must complete online safety training each month as assignedRegular and predictable attendanceMust be a qualified Fork Truck OperatorDaily inspection of fork truck at the beginning of each shift and complete daily check sheet on hyster tracking; blow out forklift and take off lines.Full understanding of the Ship Fork Program, load tags, procedures, proper start-up and shut-down processTransfer corrugated units from banding exit rails to the floor or load into assigned trailersEnsure all units are correctly scanned to appropriate location and loaded in correct patternsMaintain constant communication with shipping office and corrugator crewHandle/load units to minimize damage and maximize trailer utilizationImmediately report all equipment which is not functioning properlyOther Significant Job Functions IncludeResponsible for maintaining cleanliness of work area, equipment, and tools for the jobPick up shear chop at hoggerAssist corrugator crew whenever neededFollow job rotation allowing operators to take breaksChange out propane tank on fork truck as neededAdditional duties as assignedRequired Skills (Technical, Clerical, Language, Etc.)Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to use a tape measureAbility to use a computerAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English; able to understand and speak English one-on-one and via hand-held radioPreferred Skills (Technical, Clerical, Language, Etc.)2+ Years experience operating moving equipment such as a sit-down propane forklift and clamp truckPhysical DemandsConstant sitting and driving forklifts, talking, hearing; Frequent twisting, turning, maintaining balance, grasping, operating foot controls; Occasional pushing, pulling, walking; specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception and peripheral vision.
