About the CompanyA multi‑brand consumer products organization is seeking a Lab Technician to support its product testing laboratory and assist with the evaluation of returned products. This role is hands‑on and execution‑focused, supporting engineering activities related to product testing, compliance, troubleshooting, and documentation in a fast‑paced environment. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, technically curious, and comfortable working on multiple products and priorities while supporting engineers and senior lab staff.About the RoleThis role is hands‑on and execution‑focused, supporting engineering activities related to product testing, compliance, troubleshooting, and documentation in a fast‑paced environment.Responsibilities:Test Lab Support Support day‑to‑day operations of the engineering test laboratoryAssist with setup, execution, and documentation of product testing to applicable safety and performance standards (e.g., UL, CSA)Perform hands‑on wiring, soldering, and test setup for small electro‑mechanical productsOperate standard lab equipment and automated test fixtures to collect test dataMaintain accurate test records and organize test data per established proceduresAssist with equipment maintenance, calibration tracking, and general lab readinessMaintain a clean, safe, and organized lab environmentProduct Testing & Evaluation Test and evaluate new, existing, and competitive productsSupport debugging and failure analysis of electro‑mechanical devicesAssist engineers with root cause investigations related to field failures and product returnsHelp develop and document test procedures and test reportsSupport evaluation of product changes, new components, or alternate suppliersReturns Lab Support Assist with processing, logging, and organization of returned productsHelp investigate returned units and document findings under engineer guidanceSupport disposition of returns, including scrapping and recycling activitiesMaintain organization and cleanliness of the returns lab QualificationsAssociate degree or coursework in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field preferredEquivalent hands‑on technical experience will be considered Required SkillsExperience working with electro‑mechanical products, preferably consumer or small appliancesHands‑on mechanical aptitude; ability to perform wiring, soldering, and basic troubleshootingFamiliarity with standard lab test equipment and measurement toolsAbility to follow test procedures and document results accuratelyBasic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with attention to detailStrong communication skills and willingness to learn from senior engineers Preferred SkillsExposure to safety or compliance testing (UL, CSA, or similar)Experience in a lab, test, manufacturing, or machine‑shop environmentFamiliarity with OSHA or lab safety practices
