The individual will be a member of the Engineering Solutions branch responsible for supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. The Engineering Solutions branch performs cutting-edge technology development in support of the National Defense Strategy.Open to internal and external candidates.Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be highly organized, possess effective verbal and written communication skills, work with discretion and confidentiality, have proven time-management skills, be proactive, and be willing to continually learn new duties and skills.Job DutiesResponsible for management of personnel and workflow for the Digital Solutions (DS) technology development section, ensuring development of technical approaches, use of judgment within defined practices and procedures, and making technical decisions, including leading preliminary selections and adaptations of technical alternatives for assigned work.Ensure execution of tasks for Engineering Solutions including custom application development, database management, AI/ML tasks, data analytics, development of PowerBI dashboards, CBM/AATN network administration, and other projects as assigned.Ensure all applications developed utilize clean, efficient, and well-written code.Lead and contribute to code reviews and improve code quality.Develop and maintain positive, open relationships with AEDC counterparts and DS development customers.Develop a positive working relationship with and integrate our development processes with the Mission Information Systems subdirectorate, ensuring our applications meet all requirements of the TOS II contract.Champion a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.Determine and monitor staffing assignments to effectively execute DS workload.Manage employee performance and delivery of applied technology development activities supporting the Air Force Analysis and Technology Branch, Air Force Test Support branch, Test Mission Areas, as well as external customers.Actively participate in the development of employee goals and objectives.Conduct annual performance reviews and hold career-development discussions.Conduct strategic planning with principal investigators, subject-matter experts, and program managers for the technology budget allocations each year.Provide weekly input for discussion with BNH leadership regarding status of DS section activities.Administer personnel discipline.Exemplify the company core value and covenant of safety in all aspects of work, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.Perform other related duties as required.Basic QualificationsS. degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Physics, or a related scientific discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in a technical environment.Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to DoD network and computer systems.U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC due to Air Force security requirements.Preferred QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of engineering management experience leading teams and allocating limited resources among competing demands.Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related field.Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, C#, JavaScript).Strong change-management leadership and influencing skills with internal and external customers.Experience with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL).Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).Experience with version control systems (Git, CI/CD pipeline).Experience with automated testing frameworks.Extensive prior experience in application development in a Department of Defense environment.Ability to develop and maintain relationships with employees, clients, and customers.Ability and desire to mentor and develop diverse talent.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Experience leading a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.Active Secret Security Clearance.What We OfferCompetitive salaries.Continuing education assistance.Multiple healthcare benefits packages.401(k) with employer matching.Paid time off (PTO) and a federally recognized holiday schedule.Who We AreBeyond New Horizons (BNH) is a fully populated joint venture of Astrion and Fluor Federal Services, Inc. formed to provide unmatched Test Operations and Sustainment services for the Arnold Engineering Development Complex.
