Job Coach/Job Developer

JOB SUMMARY The Job Coach delivers high quality training services to customers. This position is responsible for supporting customers (persons served and employers) after job placement to ensure successful workplace orientation and job retention. The Job Coach will be responsible for developing a workplace training plan. Must be able to deal tactfully and effectively with a wide variety of people and have good computer skills. Shall not provide direct support to an immediate family member. The Job Developer provides employment assistance to customers as they move to achieve employment goals of their own choice. The position supports customers in the expansion of their abilities, empowering them to choose and be successful in valued roles within a work environment. The Job Developer fulfills this position by finding acceptable employment opportunities based on a customer’s personal criteria for a valued work role, and seeking out opportunities in employment that meet the defined criteria, and working with the customer to learn and retain the skills necessary to be successful, all the while respecting their rights and dignity and keeping them involved in the process. People employed in this position should possess an aptitude and willingness to work with people experiencing Mental Illness/Developmental Disabilities. Shall not provide direct support to an immediate family member. EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE Must be at least 18 years of age to provide direct support without line-of-sight supervision. Must have associate degree, or high school diploma or equivalent and six months relevant experience Must complete 9.5 hours of employment services training as offered thorough Direct Course or through ACRA certified training program within six months of hire. Must complete 4 hours of continuing education in employment services annually, on a rolling year calendar that begins after 9.5 hours are completed. Must meet the education requirements and earn the professional certificate of completion required within 24 months from the date of hire or within 24 months of May 4, 2016. Must have nationally recognized certification (ACRE or College of Employment Services (CES) or similar) or must earn this credential within 24 months of hire. •Experience working with people with disabilities is preferred. Personal computer knowledge is essential: MS Office Applications (Word, Excel.).
