Provide exceptional customer service in response to high volume of incoming calls regarding account status. Determine compliance with departmental policies and procedures and the Fair Debt Collections Act (FDCPA) and HIPAA regulations. Position is located in the UW Family Medicine Clinic in Cheyenne, Wyoming.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provide customer service to all patients and answer questions regarding medical accounts.Explain insurance benefits to patients regarding Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and balances.Collect updated insurance information from patients and notify billing specialist of changes.Assist patients with terms for repayment structures by setting up payment plans.Generate statements for patients.Review rejected statements containing invalid information. Update said information and resubmit.Review delinquent accounts and submit to collection agency.Enter qualifying accounts into Medicare Bad Debt spreadsheet.Contact patients to inform of overdue balances.Serve as back up for front desk.Supplemental Functions:Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational goals and objectives.Attend and participate in training and other personal professional development activity.Competencies:Service OrientationConsistencySensitivityAnalysis/Problem IdentificationMinimum Qualifications:Education: High School/GEDExperience: 1-2 years customer service experience in healthcare settingDesired Qualifications:Proven experience using a Practice Management System and/or managing Accounts Receivable functionsProgressive experience in a medical office setting, including daily account reconciliation and posting patient paymentsPrior experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or Rural Health Clinic (RHC)Proficiency in spreadsheet tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets) and/or experience developing data dashboardsStrong analytical and creative problem-solving skillsExceptional organizational abilities with keen attention to detailRequired Application Materials:Complete the online application.
