We're excited to find individuals who are eager to be part of a team that's driving global impact through innovation, sustainability, and purpose.Location: 415 West Roy Parker Road, Ozark, AL 36360Job SummaryThis position is responsible for the overall operation of all product line machinery systems which consist of the Prequalifying System, Mill System 2, Mill System 3, Liberator Line System, Granulation System, Packaging Line System and Roto-Grind System. Operator must ensure high quality standards for product and WIP material and demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines in a safe manner. These product line systems function in the same capacity of cleaning, sizing and refining raw material per customer order, but each of them processes a different product. Additional responsibilities will include: computer touch screen set-ups and adjustments, performing mandatory equipment and material inspections including quality control sieve analysis for each product, bulk density testing, getting flow rates, jockeying trailers to and from the docks, lift truck and skid steer loader operation, general equipment preventive maintenance, all production line related documentation including inventory, data entry, assistance with creating SOP, cross-training into other job functions as needed and performing housekeeping activities including use of compressed air system to clean de-stoner, gravity table decks and air filters. This position requires routine attendance to departmental, production, safety and Company meetings.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Secondary - % of Time - DescriptionE - 40% - Operate all production machinery line systems with minimal supervision:Conduct visual inspections of machinery and perform general preventive maintenanceSetup, operate, troubleshoot, adjust settings and maintain line machinery processes using computer touch screen pads, control panels and mechanical practicesPerform required quality ASTM sieve testing on all products and continually check materials throughout the manufacturing processes for foreign contaminatesPerform all production related documentation, data entry and inventoryUnderstand and perform all required proper customer packagingPerform bulk density tests and flow rates of different productsE - 30% - Operate forklift/skid loader equipment to move and transport raw material:PM's must be filled out at the beginning of every shiftLifts and loaders must be blown out no less than two times/shiftCheck for wheel chocks and trailer stands before entering a trailerEnsure loaders are fueled up and vacuumed out at the end of each shiftE - 10% - 6S Organization/Housekeeping:Organize work area on a continual basis in order to maintain a safe, efficient, productive and clean work environment by using air wands, vacuums, brooms and shovelsParticipate in departmental 6S program and complete assigned tasks effectively and efficientlyEmpty wood, trash and/or cardboard dumpsters in assigned work areas when fullKeep shovels, brooms, rakes, garden hoes, squeegees, trash cans, dump tubs, and tool box in designated areaEnsure work area is blown down and cleared so sweeper can access area; if sweeper is not running, blow machines out and sweep up with broomsPrep and clean all walking floors when they come back from Lancaster or from being repairedE - 10% - Communication:Responsible for communicating changes in production and/or quality of product to shift/department Lead personSubmit work orders to Maintenance team; demonstrate ability to explain maintenance issues and troubleshoot general mechanical issues if Supervisor or Lead is unavailableCommunicate with other System Operators when running LoaderS - 5% - Pre-shift scheduling/planning:Participate in pre-shift stretching exercisesRead and understand the operations board with a general knowledge of all machinery functions, product identifications, raw materials, material placements, screen set-ups and product preparationsAdapt to various assigned job locations; be able to change job functions mid-shift or as neededUtilize appropriate personal protective equipment and conduct pre-operation safety checks on machineryS - 5% - Jockey trailers to and from docks using yard spotter tractor.S - 5% - Cross train into other job functions providing assistance to other departments as necessary.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities RequiredHigh School Diploma/GED or 4 years of machine operator/manufacturing experience requiredEnglish fluency (read, write, speak)Past manufacturing experience operating equipment of similar complexity preferredA minimum of 6-months powered industrial truck experience requiredFront end loader experience preferredProven ability to multitask in a stressful environment (dirty, confined spaces, strict timelines, etc.), attention to detail, and adapt to changing demandsRead and understand units of measureAbility to perform basic math functionsDemonstrated comfort with data entry and basic computer skills; ERP experience preferredMust be safety conscious and carry out work responsibilities in a safe mannerMust be able to work overtime to meet operational requirementsAble to safely perform related physical requirements/demands of the roleValid driver's license preferred (must have in order to jockey trailers)Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics below are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.Manufacturing Environment: This position may operate in a manufacturing setting with conditions of high-pressure air/steam/gas, hazardous gas/chemical fumes, extreme heat and temperature variations, loud noise, exposure to dangerous machinery, dirty work environment and/or exposure to dust (pigment).
