JOB DETAILSJob Class Description: INSTRUCTOR IIIClass Code: 7314Job Title: PERMANENT DISTRICT SUBSTITUTE TEACHERSupervisory Responsibilities: NONEPosition Type: CLASSIFIEDFLSA Classification: NON-EXEMPTReports To: TEACHER OF RECORD/PRINCIPALLocation: TAMARACK ELEMENTARY SCHOOLCompensation: Commensurate with salary range on the DCPS Salary Schedule for Permanent Substitute.Hours Per Day: 7.0 hours per dayContracted Days: 177 days per yearQUALIFICATIONSRequired:High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of 60 college credit hoursEligibility to hold a KY Emergency Substitute Teaching CertificatePreferred:Bachelor's DegreeFull-time teaching experienceRelated field experienceKnowledge Of:Basic computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard to navigate computer, e-mail, and websites, including Google Suite.Classroom management techniquesDocumentation and record-keeping techniquesCommunication skillsPolicies and objectives of assigned program and activitiesJOB DESCRIPTIONJob Summary: Provide continuation of instruction and management of students in absence of the regular teacher in a variety of content areas and grade levels.Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:Provide effective continuation of instruction based on lesson plans and/or instructions provided by the regular teacherEffectively communicate assignments and instructions to students and provide assistance to studentsFollow all safety and emergency procedures established by the district and/or school.Take attendanceSupervision of students using proper classroom management techniquesProvide detailed notes and feedback to the regular teacherMust use sound judgement and reasoning to adapt as necessary in the absence of the regular teacher and seek guidance from an administrator when appropriateComplete grading of assignments when appropriate or as requested by the regular teacherMaintain the cleanliness of the classroomProtect confidential information of students and fellow staff members.Assure compliance with federal, state and district policy, administrative procedures and all other procedures/policies applicable to assignment.Prioritize, plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines.Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with tact and patience.Follow proper reporting procedures for all matters including but not limited to behavioral issues, bullying, suspected child abuse or neglect, etc.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
