Manager, R&D Laboratory Operations

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly analytical, strategic and implemental Laboratory Operations Manager to lead an R&D lab support team. The Laboratory Operations Manager will support the R&D department by creating, maintaining and managing high functioning laboratories. This role focuses on optimizing operations and management in the areas of EHS, inventory, procurement, equipment and space. The ideal candidate will drive lab support efficiency, continuous improvement, and align lab support strategies with business needs.Primary Responsibilities: Work closely with all R&D teams and counterparts in the R&D Operations team to ensure the necessary environment, facilities, reagents & supplies, materials, and equipment for performing R&D projectsWork primarily with the R&D Laboratory Operations team and outside vendors to plan and perform duties in the areas of EHS, inventory, procurement, equipment and spacePlan, oversee and execute day-to-day R&D lab operations, including but not limited to lab safety and compliance, adequate lab supplies and inventory, sample procurement, and equipment usagePlan and forecast consumption levels of reagents/consumables based on current and upcoming project load to prevent redundant ordering and limit waste/scrapProvide updates and logistical oversight on sample procurementCompile, analyze and forecast spendingDevelop and implement tools for efficient use of high capital expense equipmentAnalyze and report on KPIsPerform lab walkthroughs to identify, control and mitigate operational risksAssess, make suggestions, and optimize laboratory workflow and logistics to improve department and laboratory efficiency and productivityIdentify, propose and implement changes/modifications to documentation systems and procedures to ensure complianceEnsure that R&D labs are following relevant GxPs and CLIA practicesWrite, review and implement SOPsHire and provide onboard trainingConduct hands-on lab support activitiesDrive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and efficiency of lab operationsQualifications: BS or BA in science, engineering, business or related fieldSeven plus years of combined experience in areas of lab operations, scientific research, EHS QA/QC, facilities and/or general managementMinimum of five years of previous laboratory management experienceMinimum of three years of people management experienceKnowledge, Skills, And Abilities: Excellent analytical skillsStrong capability in planning and executionExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent organizational and leadership skillsStrong ability to multitask, prioritize and deliver in a fast paced and dynamic work environmentAbility to think creatively and analytically with exceptional level of organization, time management, problem solving, and reliabilityGreat attention to detailsGreat ability to optimize workflows by identifying and eliminate redundanciesProactive and self-motivatedExtensive experience in R&D lab supportWorking knowledge of EHS and OSHA regulations and policiesWorking knowledge of GxP'sProficient in basic molecular biology techniquesExperience operating NGS platforms and Liquid HandlersTeam playerCompensation & Total RewardsThis range reflects a good-faith estimate of the base pay we reasonably expect to offer at the time of hire.
