Mechanic - Fleet Maintenance

DescriptionUnder the direction of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, perform various automotive repairs including gas, diesel, electric, and CNG engines. Diagnoses, repairs, and overhauls engines, differentials, components, electrical and fuel systems, etc. for various powered and rolling equipment such as cars, trucks, buses, equipment, and generators. Performs tune-ups, brake jobs, and other preventive maintenance. Replaces common parts and makes adjustments. Maintains appropriate service and repair records. Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and services.Perform a variety of skilled duties involved in the mechanical maintenance and overhauling of gas, diesel, electric and CNG engines.Diagnoses, repairs and overhauls engines, differentials, components, electrical and fuel systems, etc. for various powered and rolling equipment such as cars, trucks, buses, equipment and generators.Performs tune ups, brake jobs and other preventive maintenance; replaces common parts and makes adjustments.Disassemble, replace and repair parts for small engines including clutches, drive systems, gears, carburetors and electrical systems; replace and repair frame assemblies.RequirementsHigh School diploma or GED required.Must have a minimum of 5 years working experience in mechanics.Must possess a valid California class B driver's license or be able to obtain it within 6 months of hire.Good driving record and insurable on company policySafe operation of related tools, equipment, and procedures in the overhaul, repair, and adjustment of motor equipment and of fuel, ignition, electrical, and cooling systems.Knowledge of air systems, hydraulic brake systems, fuel management, and electrical diagnosis.Read and apply technical and mechanical diagrams, schematics, and repair manuals.
