Job Description Wage: $22.00–$25.00 per hourJoin our team as an Activity Director and make a meaningful impact in the lives of our residents! This role plans and leads engaging programs for residents in the Care Center and Parkview Court that support emotional, spiritual, social, and physical well-being. Activities are tailored to residents' interests and abilities to promote independence and enhance quality of life while providing leadership to the Activity Department team.This is a Monday–Friday position (80 hours per pay period) with occasional weekends as needed. We offer an exciting benefits package, including free employee health insurance, vision coverage, HSA options, retirement with a 4% match after one year, scholarship opportunities, competitive wages, and a fun social committee that hosts events and activities for staff throughout the year.QualificationsMust be able to meet the following physical requirements to complete duties listed in the job description:Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, and kneel occasionally.Must be able to twist, reach above shoulder height, push/pull wheelchair or cart frequently.Must be able to be on their feet for most of their shift as assigned.Must be able to push, pull, move or lift a minimum of 50 pounds.Must be able to read and understand hand writing, regular print and directions. Must be able to write in a legible manner. Vision must be appropriate to read regular 10 point print with or without corrective lens.Must be able to hear sounds of resident calls for assistance when the resident is not within their sight.Must be able to work independently up to 100% of the time.Must be able to read and speak the English language.Must be able to work rotating shift (if needed), every other weekend, and holidays.Job Responsibilities:Demonstrates dependable, professional work habits.Develops monthly calendar for Care Center and Parkview Court residents.Maintains a staff schedule that provides for a variety of activities consisting of large and small group activities and individual programming seven days per week and evenings.Coordinates volunteer schedules to enhance resident activities.Plans annual volunteer luncheon with the help of other departments.Evaluates staff annually. Handles discipline issues in a timely manner as they occur.Serves as the Editor of the organization's newsletter three times per year.Assists in marketing by taking photos of regularly scheduled events and special occasions.Is actively involved in ongoing dementia training and programming for staff.Acquire, store and maintain activity supplies.Schedules bus driver for Care Center events and coordinates some events with PVC excursions.Plans programs for holidays and special events.Participates in weekly and monthly department head meetings.Cultivate and maintain positive relations with residents, families and the community.Must understand and practice Standard Precautions.Develop and maintain effective communication & cooperation with departmental personnel, as well as all other departments within the facility to ensure that services and activities can be completed to meet the needs of the residents.Direct the development, implementation, supervision and ongoing evaluation of the activity program.Complete the activities component of the comprehensive assessment and contribute to comprehensive care plan goals and approaches that are individualized to match the skills, abilities and preferences of each resident.Maintain a clean environment for the resident. Follow proper infection control practices in all aspects of work.Recognize safety responsibilities of employee for the resident.Report occupational hazards and/or incidents of injury, to appropriate personnel, in accordance with facility policy and procedures.Recognize employee's responsibility for his / her own safety while on the job and for the safety of others. Recognize and remove environmental dangers.Apply principles of good body mechanics when lifting and moving objects. Use transfer techniques consistent with proper body mechanics.Participate in disaster planning drills (fire, tornado, severe weather, etc.) when on duty.Maintain calm manner in tense situations.Maintain awareness and adheres to use of safety devices according to the care plan and suggests their use when appropriate.Develop knowledge of actions to be implemented in emergency situations.Practice fire safety and accident prevention procedures.Follow all policies and procedures governing the operation of Glenwood Retirement Village.Develops department policies and procedures. Conducts departmental training and meetings as needed.Must understand and adhere to all Vulnerable Adult Abuse Prevention Policies.Adheres to HIPAA privacy rules and regulations.Other duties as assigned by the Administrator.
