Have you ever pictured yourself providing costume services for entertainment offerings at the Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Cruise Line, and more? We are looking for Costume Assistants to join our Disney Live Entertainment team! These hardworking individuals assist in the end-to-end process of costume production with delivery, operation, and sustainment. Costume Assistants may perform specialized functions such as sewing, airbrushing, dying, and other craft work, as well as repairs, laundry, inventory, and storage. Additionally, Costume Assistants will assist the Costumers with setting up and attending fittings!You will report to the Costumers.As a part of the consideration process for this position, there will be a 4-hour in-person costume crafting assessment.Responsibilities : Perform advanced craft work on specialty costumes such as embellishing, airbrushing, painting, distressing, and morePack costumes for shipment and fill out paperwork for tracking and inventoryPerform basic hand sewing, pressing, repair, and set up costume lines for showsOperate special laundry care equipment (steamers, industrial steam irons, etc.)Pick-up and delivery of show costumes for repairs, and alterationsPartner with Costumers to set up and assemble wardrobe and accessories for fittingCompose alteration tickets, compile swatch cards, and perform general costuming inventoryPerform quick costume fixes to include hand sewing, button repairs, zippers, gluing, mending, and moreBasic Qualifications : Must be at least 18 years of ageMust successfully pass the Costume Assistant assessmentMust possess a valid Driver’s License as you may be required to drive company vehicles, such as an automatic transmission box truckProficiency in multiple types of complex shipping logistics (e.g. bin, soft craft, garment bag, shipping box, road case)Willing to work with and around costumes made of natural and synthetic materials such as fur, latex, and mylarPhysical role requiring repetitive movement such as heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, grasping, clutching, prolonged standing, and kneelingMinimal climbing of step stools/small laddersBe able to work with or around costumes made of natural or synthetic materials such as fur, foam, latex, or mylarPush, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds individually, and team lift a maximum of 85 poundsFlexible with work schedule, including overtime, weekends, and holidaysPreferred Qualifications: One (1) year of experience in a Costume Department or two (2) years of related experience in a theatrical or themed entertainment capacityExperience with programs and software such as GUS, Jira, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), SmartSheet, SharePoint, Maximo, MULAN, YuniquePLMAdvanced costume craft skills such as airbrushing, dye procedures, jewelry making, and paintingExperience with international packing/shipping logistics and paperworkAdditional Information : SCHEDULE AVAILABILTYOur Theme Parks and Resort Hotels operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and some shifts may start as early as 5:00am while some may end as late as 3:00am, 4:00am or 5:00am.
