Job DescriptionGrid Networks is seeking an experienced Network and Linux Systems engineer with expertise deploying Juniper network devices across existing wide-area networks.You will join a small and friendly team of Infrastructure engineers with varied backgrounds and skillsets who all work on and support a variety of technologies. Our team is small, and every engineer contributes across multiple areas, influencing technical direction and participating throughout the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects. Our team designs, builds, and implements systems supporting hardware designers, software developers, mobile networks, and the customer-facing systems that bring them together.This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starting and hands-on engineer who likes improving enterprise network infrastructure, but who also enjoys building and supporting Linux-based systems, virtualization, and automation. If you loathe silos and pigeonholes, and if you enjoy a variety of tasks and technologies to fiddle with, you may be happy here.This is a full-time, on-site position at our office in Reston, VA.What You’ll DoLead efforts to migrate existing WAN infrastructure to new Juniper platforms, including design, planning, execution, documentation, operation, and maintenance.Mentor peers regarding the new Juniper systems.Support and enhance the organization’s network infrastructure.Contribute to Linux systems engineering and administration.Participate in the full lifecycle of a variety of infrastructure initiatives.You’ll be a great fit if you meet the following:5+ years in network engineering, systems, or related infrastructure roles.Strong hands-on experience designing, configuring, and maintaining Juniper-based networks, including routing (BGP, OSPF), firewall policies, VPNs, and switching.Experience managing Linux servers running Ubuntu, Debian, and RHELExperience configuring and maintaining common open-source tools and software such as Apache, NGINX, Postgres, MariaDB, IPA/IDM, KeyCloak, IPTables, pfSense, Wireguard, IPSec, and OpenVPNExperience creating and configuring automation with Ansible, AWX, Git, and ForemanExcellent communication skills with the ability to explain complicated technical concepts to people with less or different technical backgroundsAttention to detail in task execution and documentationComfortable working collaboratively with other teamsAble to work independently and prioritize tasks effectivelyAble to lift and carry up to 50lbs (e.g., servers and switches)It would be even better if you have experience…Configuring Cisco equipment and networksWorking with OpenBSD, FreeBSD, and Packet Filter (PF)Configuring and managing Quagga and Free Range Routing (FRR)Building and configuring software-defined phone systems such as Asterisk or FreeswitchBuilding and configuring monitoring systems like Prometheus, Nagios, or ZabbixBuilding and configuring ELK systemsWorking directly with VMWare, ProxMox, Docker, Kubernetes and similar systemsFamiliarity with core mobile networking terms and technologiesIf you meet the qualifications listed above and are looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity in a collaborative team environment, we encourage you to apply.
