HVAC Service Technician

Michigan Broadband Services, a leading provider of high-speed communications solutions, is seeking a HVAC Service Technician to support approximately 20 sites across the western Upper Peninsula. This role requires a self-directed professional who can manage multiple locations, respond to issues independently, and maintain reliable facility operations. The position involves significant daily travel between sites and participation in an every-other-week on-call rotation for after-hours support. This role reports to the Central Office Facilities Manager.ResponsibilitiesPrimarily hands-on HVAC maintenance; including cleaning condenser coils, changing air filters and belts, greasing bearings, and keeping systems operational and reliableDevelop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programsDiagnose and resolve facility-related issues efficientlyCoordinate and oversee contractors, vendors, and service providersEnsure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standardsMaintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and system performanceMonitor facility performance and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savingsSupport emergency preparedness and business continuity planningCollaborate with internal teams to support operational needs and space planningAdditional ResponsibilitiesPerform light electrical work (e.g., lighting, basic troubleshooting)Complete minor plumbing repairsConduct routine fire system testingPerform building and roof inspections, including rough roof and facility condition checksMaintain overall facility condition and upkeepQualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Facility Manager (CFM) designation preferredExperience with general facility maintenance, repair, and toolsAbility to lift and move equipment and access confined spaces as neededStrong time management to manage repairs and logistics under tight deadlines3-7 years of experience in facilities engineering or building operationsStrong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systemsExperience with building management systems (BMS) and maintenance softwareFamiliarity with safety regulations and codes (OSHA, NFPA, etc.)Proven problem-solving, organizational, and time management skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to life equipment and work in confined spaces as neededRequirementsEPA 608 Type II or Universal certificationMinimum 2+ years HVAC experienceStrong working knowledge of air conditioning, refrigeration systems, and basic controlsAbility to troubleshoot and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS) at a practical levelValid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between sitesBenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with employer matchLife insurancePaid time off
