Direct Support Professional

Job description: Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life. You will assist clients with daily living activities and foster their independence while promoting a positive and nurturing environment. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Provide patient care and support in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or in-home care. Monitor and document client vital signs and health status, ensuring adherence to care plans. Administer medications as prescribed and assist with medical appointments. Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and personal growth. Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping tasks. Utilize proper techniques for heavy lifting and transferring clients, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary. Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations while providing compassionate care. Experience Ideal candidates will possess the following skills and experiences: Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism. Familiarity with Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, or memory care practices. Background in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings is preferred. Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is advantageous. Experience in patient observation and monitoring to ensure safety and well-being. Ability to develop rapport with clients while maintaining professional boundaries. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and family members.
