This individual will report to the Head of Public Market Sales and Consultant Relations and will be an integral part of a team-based approach.The successful candidate will lead the coverage of select generalist consulting firms and may also provide secondary coverage, including outside of the territory of responsibility. This individual will bring energy, enthusiasm, credibility, and a strategic focus to collaborating and partnering with consultants, both research teams, field consultants and senior management, in order to establish and strengthen relationships with the consultant universe. This will require a thorough understanding of the firm’s capabilities, the U.S. consultant landscape as well as the research and approval process. This hire will utilize a strategic mind-set and knowledge of the institutional business in leveraging the firm’s expanding resources and product offerings to further elevate First Eagle’s brand as a world class investment manager, thought leader, and problem solver.What you will do: Research Consultant Coverage: Execute the strategic coverage plans to attain and retain buy ratings for all the firm’s institutional strategies including both public markets strategies and private markets strategiesField Consultant Coverage: Partner closely with business development, institutional sales, and relationship management teams to ensure coordinated and impactful coverage of key field consultants; Enhance our standing with field consultants monetize buy ratings and help to retain current clientsProduct Advocate: Understand First Eagle’s distinctive investment strategies and effectively articulate them with consultants, clients, and internal partnersInternal Collaboration and Leadership: Share insights gleaned from conversations in the market with Institutional team members during weekly team meetings/calls, attend conferences and training to further build knowledge and skills, and share information about market trends, consultant appetite and industry developments with members of the teamPartner with institutional distribution colleagues to implement long and short-term strategic initiatives for the consultant market and develop business plans for focus consulting firms in assigned territoryProvide mentorship to the analysts/associates on the Consultant Relations team through close collaboration and guidance; by providing clear expectations and constructive feedbackProactively respond to consultant requests including RFPs, quarterly requests and ad hoc outreach while keeping distribution colleagues well informed of all communicationsArrange and manage consultant due diligence visits and leverage appropriate investment and distribution resourcesCommunicate frequently with the Marketing and Product teams to enhance existing strategies and highlight potential opportunities while ensuring the teams are informed on relevant product development and consultant activityThe qualities you should have:An undergraduate degree in finance, business, or related field; MBA and/or CFA preferred8+ years of experience working on the coverage of investment consulting firmsExperience working with credit and/or alternatives strategiesActionable relationships and established credibility with select consulting firmsExceptionally strong relationship management skills and ability to work effectively to build consensus internally and externally by upholding the values of respect and collaborationThe ability to creatively leverage intellectual capital and thought leadership to open doors and create commercial partnerships with research consultantsStrong knowledge of the institutional business and its competitive landscapeAbility to build strategic relationships with the investment consultant community by engaging as a knowledgeable partner in thoughtful and impactful conversationsDemonstrated track record of success attaining and retaining buy ratings from investment consultants as well as a track-record of raising institutional assets through the consultant channelA genuine team orientation with the ability to seamlessly collaborate with all internal stakeholders, including investment, infrastructure, and broader Institutional team membersHigh level of intellectual curiosity and critical thinking capabilities – an ability to anticipate market trends and utilize internal resources to adjust accordinglySelf-starting work ethic, high energy, entrepreneurial and resourceful – someone who “makes it happen”Comfortable traveling 50%+ of working days to meet with consultantsStrong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage a diverse workloadDemonstrate temperament that balances teamwork, humility, patience, insight, hard work, urgency, and resultsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrable capacity to thoughtfully articulate investment insightsBase Salary range: $160,000 to $200,000. In addition, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
