Controller

The Controller is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, and internal control functions for the organization. Reporting directly to the President, this role ensures accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all financial activities. The Controller will support all company divisions—Trucking, Logistics, and Support Services—while providing strategic financial insights that help drive profitability and growth.This position will also lead the company's transition from Sage 50 to Sage Intacct, playing a critical role in modernizing and streamlining BR Williams' financial systems and reporting capabilities.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll reconciliation, and General Ledger.Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Manage month-end and year-end close processes.Maintain compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal financial policies.Coordinate annual audits and tax filings.Budgeting, Forecasting & AnalysisLead the quarterly and annual budgeting process and develop rolling forecasts.Partner with division leaders to monitor financial performance, identify trends, and recommend improvements.Provide detailed variance analysis and actionable insights to support strategic decisions.Develop financial dashboards and key performance metrics for leadership review.Cash Management & Internal ControlsManage cash flow, credit, and banking relationships to support operational and capital needs.Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and industry financial requirements.Support insurance, risk management, and capital planning activities.ERP Transition & Systems ManagementLead the successful migration from Sage 50 to Sage Intacct, ensuring accurate data conversion and user adoption.Partner with IT and operational leaders to align system functionality with business processes.Train accounting and operations teams on new workflows and reporting tools.Leverage Sage Intacct's automation and analytics capabilities to enhance efficiency and financial visibility.Lead and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.Collaborate closely with the President and executive team to align financial strategy with business objectives.Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Logistics, and Safety to support business unit performance.Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the President and Executive team.QualificationsEducation & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA strongly preferred).Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or Controller role.Experience in trucking, logistics, or transportation preferred.Strong working knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial reporting.Experience with Sage 50 and/or Sage Intacct required; experience managing an ERP implementation is a plus.High integrity and attention to detail.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and leadership abilities.Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to execution.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.Key competencies:Accuracy and timeliness of financial reportingBudget vs. actual variance and performance improvementCash flow and working capital managementSuccessful implementation and utilization of Sage IntacctAccounting process improvements and team developmentSeniority LevelDirectorEmployment TypeFull-timeJob FunctionAccounting/Auditing and FinanceIndustries: Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain and StorageGet notified about new Controller jobs in Eastaboga, ALReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at BRW by 2xJ-18808-Ljbffr
