Senior Developer As a Senior Developer within the Investments and Operations Development team, you will be based in the Research technology team responsible for the build of a greenfield web-based Research platform. You will deliver ongoing change and new features to the suite of critical modules utilized by the multiple investment teams globally covering Equity, Fixed Income, Alternatives, ETF/ETN, and other investment solutions.This is a hands-on technical role, and you will be expected to take ownership of key projects from design to delivery and to contribute to the overall architecture and development team practices. You will have an attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and competency in all layers of development with a drive and fire to succeed and implement optimal solutions.As a Sr Developer, you will additionally support ongoing learning and development of other team members through code reviews, peer programming, and helping upskill and mentor junior developers on the team. You will participate in agile ceremonies with other technical staff, business owners and subject matter experts. Additionally, you will assess requirements and provide and communicate technical designs to the team.It is important in this role that you can communicate and collaborate effectively across all areas of technology and with our business partners globally.Duties and Responsibilities You will:Work closely with the Product Owner in the Research agile team and the Investments & Operations Technology Development Manager to understand development prioritiesProvide input into project timelines, estimations, and roadmapsPerforms hands-on development, adhering to the SDLC framework and best practices at Janus HendersonSupport ongoing learning and development of other team members through code reviews, peer programming, and mentoring of junior developersParticipate in product meetings with technical staff, business owners and subject matter expertsAssess and develop design requirements and architectures for productsBe an aspiring, proactive personality who can take it upon themselves to work with others and come up with the ideal solutions rather than wait to be told what to doPrepares and conducts unit and integration testing based on defined standardsEnsures that code meets stated requirements and standards for accessibility, security, object-oriented best practices, and performanceEffectively function, and clearly and accurately communicate within a software development team consisting of other full stack developers, quality assurance developers, and business analystsCarry out additional duties as assigned.Technical Skills and Qualifications Excellent knowledge of C# and AngularSolid understanding of OOP and SOLID principlesExcellent knowledge of Azure, Function Apps, Cosmos, Service Bus, SSO, DevOpsExperience in micro-service and API developmentExperience in UI/UX designExperience in ADO repositories, YAML pipelines, and release managementExperience in unit testing against C# and Angular, E2E, Jest/Jasmine/CypressInvestment Management experienceStrong understanding of Agile delivery methodologiesDemonstrable ability to design and deliver complex systems at scaleExperience of working with geographically disperse development teamsDegree educated in mathematics or scientific/engineering disciplineCompetencies Required In addition to putting clients first, acting like an owner, and succeeding as a team, the competencies for this role include:Craftsman-like approach to building software; takes pride in engineering excellence and instils these values in othersDemonstrable passion for technology e.g. personal projects, open-source involvementIntellectually robust with a keenly analytic approach to problem solvingSelf-organized with the ability to effectively manage time across multiple projects and with competing business demands and prioritiesFocused on delivering value to the business with relentless efforts to improve processStrong interpersonal skills; able to establish and maintain a close working relationship with team members and senior business stakeholders alikeConfident communicator; able to argue a point concisely and deal positively with conflicting views.Ability to communicate information technology concepts to non-technology personnelProblem ownership – takes responsibility for identified issues and works to resolve in a pragmatic mannerClient focused, committed to excellence, strong attention to detail and a team playerCompliance Requirements At a minimum the role will require you to:Place the interest of Janus Henderson's Clients first, act in accordance with TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) principlesUnderstand and follow laws and regulations applicable for your role, seeking the help of your supervising manager or Compliance if additional guidance is requiredUnderstand and abide by all Janus Henderson policies applicable to your role, and seek support/guidance of the policy owner guidance when requiredYou are ultimately accountable for your actions and responsible for seeking further information on any or all of the above as necessary.
