This position is eligible for teleworking 3 days a week when scheduling permits. Telework flexibility is subject to change.As a Network Administrator II, You WillOperate and maintain a secure network routing, switching and wireless infrastructure, and be able to troubleshoot VPN and Voice over IP issuesInstall, maintain, and troubleshoot network equipment, software, and circuitsRespond to incident and request tickets; resolve within agreed upon SLA (service level agreements)Monitor and proactively discover events that may negatively impact IT services utilizing NetBrain and SolarWinds monitoring softwareImplement required changes in compliance with the IT change management processParticipate in problem management discussion to determine root causes of network problemsEnsure network system configurations delivers or exceeds agreed availability and reliabilityMaintain multiple (owned and leased) WAN (wide area network) circuitsReview system logs and alerts; respond according to documented proceduresAnalyze performance trends, identify workflows or technology gaps, and recommend changes to improve the quality and efficiency of networks, systems, and securityUtilize enterprise-level thinking to enhance the security and stability of the network environmentSupport junior administrators in troubleshooting and provide feedbackImplement ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) based processes and procedures; promote standard operating procedures to ensure key performance indicators are achievedAssist with the development of processes and procedures to meet or exceed operational SLA (service level agreements )with the business partnersOther duties as assignedLearn more about this job by reviewing the class specification on the City of Colorado Springs Class Specifications pageKnowledge OfWe are looking for candidates who demonstrate:Routing protocols such as: Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP)Operations, maintenance, and security of multiple Cisco Platforms (ISR1000, ISR 4300 series, and ISR 4400 series routers, along with 9K series, 3600 series switches)Extensive experience in security posturing through Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE)Strong understanding of Access Control ListWireless networking sustainment, operations, and security (Access Point and Wireless Controller)Working knowledge of Voice over IP telephony operations, maintenance, and troubleshootingProper customer collaboration and engagement techniquesAbility ToQuickly troubleshoot and identify the cause of network or boundary service interruptionsMonitor network and wireless infrastructure for optimal operation and utilizationSolve problems that are self-discovered or elevated from Tier-I/IIComplete assigned tasks and duties with minimal direction and guidanceWork as a teammate within and across functional teams to meet common objectivesManage multiple tasks independently and prioritize to meet business needs; operate in an IT Service Management, specifically ITIL based, environmentEstablish and maintain effective working relationships; communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally orally and in writing with customers and technical supportMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, network engineering, information management, or a related field. Three years of full-time experience in the design, installation, maintenance, and engineering support of LAN/WAN (local area network/wide area network) systemsWe value a diverse range of qualifications and experiences.
