Specialist, Employee Wellness Center (Nurse Case Manager)

OverviewThe Specialist (Nurse Case Manager) will monitor and authorize sick absences, FMLA, and maternity leave for union employees; authorize FMLA to care for family members for union employees; communicate with Met-Life as needed regarding management employee sick absences including CSA treatment cases, catastrophic leave and long-term disability; perform chart reviews; and assist in Employee Wellness Center clinic operations.This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.ResponsibilitiesCore ResponsibilitiesCommunicate with employees, supervisors, human resources, union representatives and outside health professionals to coordinate union employee sick absences, FMLA, maternity leave, short and long-term disability, sick pay approval, and return to work.Communicate with Met-Life regarding management employee short term disability absences, catastrophic leave cases and long-term disability as needed.Communicate with payroll regarding overrides for union and management sick pay.Review and determine whether fitness for duty exams may be needed based on medical record reviews and knowledge of employee duties.Perform chart reviews and compose case narratives.Respond to medical emergencies at 4 Irving Place Headquarters.Assist in the Employee Wellness Center clinic and/or mobile medical van operations as needed.Assist with medical supply inventory.Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.QualificationsRequired Education/ExperienceHigh School Diploma/GED Licensed Practical Nurse and 6 years relevant experience orAssociate's Degree Nursing (ADN) and 4 years relevant experience orBachelor's Degree Science in Nursing (BSN) and 2 years relevant experiencePreferred Education/ExperienceBachelor's Degree Science in Nursing (BSN) and 2 years relevant experienceRelevant Work Experience Understanding of FMLA regulations, required. Knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, required.2 years Clinical or case management experience, preferred. Experience working with union employee population, preferred.Skills and AbilitiesMust be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.Licenses and CertificationsDriver's License RequiredOther: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York. Required orOther: NCLEX-PN NYSED Licensure. RequiredOther: Certification in Occupational Health Nursing. Preferred orOther: Certification in Nursing Case Management. PreferredAdditional Physical DemandsThe selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
