Job Description
The Systems and Cloud Services Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert on Microsoft cloud technologies in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment. This role is responsible for the administration, support, and ongoing improvement of Microsoft 365 environments across all underlying administrative centers (SharePoint, Entra ID, Exchange, Teams, etc.) as well as Azure-based workloads. The Systems and Cloud Services Engineer will work closely with internal teams such as Security, the Help Desk, and Account Management to understand the clients’ needs and deliver appropriate solutions. Additional responsibilities will include work in an air gapped data center solution and on-premises infrastructure and application support. This role is hands-on and technical but also customer-facing as needed, requiring strong troubleshooting skills, Microsoft 365 expertise, and knowledge of Azure infrastructure. The Systems and Cloud Services Engineer resolve complex infrastructure issues by leveraging advanced system knowledge and automation through Kaseya, while ensuring all work and communications are accurately tracked in ConnectWise. This role emphasizes ownership, reliability, and superior customer service. This will require being on-site in our Plano, TX office. Key ResponsibilitiesSupport Microsoft 365 environments across all administrative centers, including Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Intune, Security & Compliance, and Purview.Assist in planning and coordinating IT projects including but not limited to client onboarding, cloud migrations (Azure workloads, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, etc.), tenant consolidations, and environment standardization efforts.Deploy, maintain, and upgrade of workloads in Azure such as virtual servers/machines, storage, restore point collections, and other resources as needed.Configuration, maintenance, and occasional troubleshooting of Entra Connect Sync agents installed in on-premises Active Directory environments to maintain synchronization in hybrid environments.Troubleshoot complex issues in client Microsoft 365 environments across multiple administrative centers, such as mail flow and email deliverability issues in Exchange Online, permission and access issues in SharePoint and Teams, identity and authentication issues in Entra ID, and any device management issues in Intune.Build new client Microsoft 365 environments and perform cleanup/discovery in acquired cloud environments – requires close coordination and collaboration with the Security team to bring client environments up to standard.Provide escalation support and subject matter expertise to Tier 1, Networking, and other teams as necessary.Stay current with Microsoft cloud platform changes, updates, best practices, and recommendations.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)5+ years of administering Microsoft 365 environments in a professional or MSP settingStrong working knowledge of all Microsoft 365 Admin centersExperience managing Azure resourcesProficiency with PowerShell for Microsoft 365 administration and Azure Cloud ShellExperience with hybrid environments and the use of Entra/Azure AD ConnectUnderstanding of Active Directory, and identity/authentication conceptsStrong troubleshooting ability with the skills to diagnose and resolve advanced cloud-related issuesExperience working directly with clients in a customer-facing professional services environment (MSP environment experience preferred)Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelinesStrong attention to detail, documentation, and communication skillsPreferred Qualifications: Microsoft Certifications preferred (MS-102, AZ-104, SC-300, or related certificates)Experience with MSP environments or multi-tenant management preferredCompTIA Security+ or ISC2 SSCP certifications are a plusWhat We Offer:Competitive salaryOpportunities for professional development and career advancementDynamic and supportive work environmentBenefits: Medical/Dental/Vision/Retirement PlanRequired & Preferred Qualifications (if applicable):The above description is an overview of the job.
