The mechanic works under the general supervision of the Superintendent and Highway Division Foreman, with significant autonomy in decision-making regarding vehicle maintenance and repairs.Responsibilities:Perform skilled repairs and maintenance on gasoline and diesel engines, including engine overhauls, brake and suspension work, electrical system repairs, and clutch replacementsOperate and document a preventive maintenance program, keeping detailed records of all work performed on vehicles and equipmentRepair power equipment and tools such as compressors, jackhammers, and mowers.Order and manage parts inventory, prepare and maintain repair records, and assist in developing vehicle specificationsOperate vehicles for snow removal and sanding during winter, plowing, and perform emergency highway operations as needed.Ensure safe practices in vehicle servicing, maintain a daily log of activities, and update the DPW Computer Maintenance and Management System Benefits:Dental insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insuranceOn-the-job trainingOpportunities for advancementPaid time offPaid trainingRetirement planVision insuranceOvertimeRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Companies ATS Questions):1.
