Controller
Job Summary
We are looking for a Controller to join our team and lead our accounting function across multiple business lines. This is a highly visible leadership role where you’ll partner across the organization, bring structure and clarity to complex operations, and help guide us through an exciting period of growth and systems transformation.
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the agricultural business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, accrual accounting, grower accounting, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role partners with farm operations, management, and executive leadership to provide financial analysis, improve operational efficiency, and support strategic decision-making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Manage all accounting functions for agricultural operations, including general ledger, grower accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
· Develop and manage annual operating budgets and forecasts.
· Monitor production costs, crop costs, inventory, and operational expenses.
· Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings.
· Oversee accrual accounting for farming, packing, storage, and other agricultural activities.
· Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
· Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures to safeguard company assets.
· Coordinate annual audits and work with external auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory agencies.
· Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
· Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financing activities.
· Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
· Prepare financial analyses and reports for executive leadership and ownership.
· Collaborate with operations managers to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
· Assist with capital expenditure planning and investment analysis.
· Support strategic planning, acquisitions, and business growth initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
Experience
· 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
· Experience in agriculture, farming, food processing, or agribusiness strongly preferred.
· Supervisory or management experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
· Experience with accrual accounting and inventory management.
· Knowledge of agricultural production cycles and seasonal operations.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
· Proficiency in financial software and tools (Computech).
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
· High attention to detail and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
· Occasionally visit farm, warehouse, packing house, or production facilities.
· Ability to travel between company locations as needed.
Work Environment
· Office environment with periodic visits to agricultural production sites.
· May require additional hours during harvest season, budgeting, audits, or month-end/year-end close.

Compensation & Benefits
· Salary $100,000 - $125,000 DOE
· Medical and 401k with company contributions, and PTO
Location: Wapato, WA (in person)
Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
