We are a network of 278 schools with nearly 16,500 educators and 190,000 students and alumni.Job DescriptionThe Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) serves as the district leader responsible for implementing the strategic direction, vision, implementation and accountability systems for all CTE programming across secondary schools. This role provides leadership to ensure that CTE pathways are high-quality, equitable, and aligned with workforce, postsecondary, and state priorities. The Director leads a statewide team of CTE coordinators, and specialists to design, scale, and sustain industry-aligned pathways that prepare every student for success in college, career, and beyond.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic Leadership Vision and InnovationDevelop and execute a multi-year strategic plan for CTE that aligns to district goals, state accountability (Perkins V, CCMR, TIA), and regional workforce needs with CCMR goals at forefrontDrive innovation in CTE program design, ensuring pathways reflect high-wage, high-demand industriesAdvise district leadership and Board on CTE expansion, outcomes, and policy implicationsPromote cross-sector collaboration between STEM, arts, and workforce pathwaysDevelop scalable models for middle-to-high school alignment, career exposure, and early college experiencesProgram Quality and Accountability:Establish clear quality standards and performance metrics for all CTE programs of studyOversee data systems for tracking student concentrator/completer status, IBC attainment, dual credit enrollment, and work-based learning participationLead statewide program evaluations and audits to ensure compliance and continuous improvementPlan and coordinate professional development opportunities for CTE teachers and specialists to enhance their effectiveness instructionallyMonitor program implementation across schools to ensure consistency, rigor, and alignment to district expectationsBudget Management:Oversee federal and state CTE funding (Perkins V, grants, and special allocations) to ensure compliance and maximize impactAlign budgets with strategic priorities, ensuring equitable resource distribution across campuses and pathwaysMonitor funding allocations, spending, and long-term sustainability of CTE initiatives and pathway expansionPolicy and Compliance:Ensure districtwide compliance with state and federal CTE regulations, including TEA program approval, service ID alignment, and PEIMS accuracyDevelop policies, frameworks, and guidance documents to standardize CTE implementation across schoolsPrepare and present reports to senior leadership, board members, and state agenciesLead internal systems and processes that ensure accurate reporting, documentation, and audit readiness across all CTE programsLeadership and Supervision:Supervise and coach state-level CTE team membersBuild team capacity through professional learning, goal-setting, and aligned performance measuresFoster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability across campuses and regionsProvide strategic direction, feedback, and ongoing support to ensure strong execution of CTE priorities and initiativesStakeholder Engagement and CommunicationBuild and maintain trust with internal and external stakeholders through transparent communication and collaborative decision-makingLead the district’s CTE advisory committees and ensure diverse representation from business, industry, and postsecondary partnersCommunicate program impact through data stories, dashboards, and public reportsStrengthen partnerships and stakeholder engagement efforts that support student access, pathway sustainability, and postsecondary readinessWorkforce DevelopmentServe as the district’s primary liaison to workforce boards, higher education institutions, and industry partnersDevelop systemwide partnerships that expand work-based learning, dual credit, and certification opportunitiesRepresent the district in regional and state CTE advisory councils, chambers, and workforce initiativesAlign workforce partnerships and pathway opportunities to regional labor market demands and student career outcomesQualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degreeCertified CTE teacherExperience leading CTE at the district levelPreferred experience and network with workforce and institutes of higher educationCOMPETENCY AND SKILLS:Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skillsAbility to collaborate effectively and provide clear, constructive feedbackProfessional presence with confidence, initiative, and sound judgmentAbility to balance strategic thinking with strong execution and attention to detailFlexible and adaptable in fast-paced, changing environmentsSkilled at synthesizing information and communicating clearly to stakeholdersAbility to interpret policies, procedures, and data to support decision-makingSelf-starter with strong ownership and commitment to student successStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong planning, organization, follow-through, and responsivenessDemonstrated care, belief, and commitment to all studentsProficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)Proficiency with standard office and instructional technology equipmentPhysical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
