Activar is a privately held medium-sized manufacturer headquartered in the twin cities. We manufacture business products under four divisions — Construction, Industrial, Plastics, and Technology Products. We are recruiting for a Controller at our Bloomington corporate headquarters. You will be part of a small collaborative corporate team that supports our four business divisions across 23 locations.
CONTROLLER POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining accurate systems for the internal reporting, external reporting and control of monetary matters, and to contribute ideas for improved reporting and control.
CONTROLLER PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Responsible for reviewing monthly financial statements.
Ensure that all accounting activities are performed correctly and in a timely manner.
Develop, maintain, and revise accounting systems and controls to provide meaningful input of data to all managers.
Review bank transactions and prepare reconciliations.
Review balance sheet account reconciliations.
Review and approve all journal entries.
Review accounts receivable trial balance.
Review accounts payable and GRN trial balances.
Review cash disbursements journals.
Review cash receipts summary report.
Assist sites in researching and resolving customer discrepancies.
Coordinate month end and year end activities with accounting department and sites.
Prepare special analyses and reports for senior management.
Review asset list and depreciation schedules.
Review sales tax reports.
Assist CFO with coordination of the activities of public accountants, bank auditors, government auditors, and maintain regulatory reports.
Provide day-to-day direction and leadership to the accounting organization.
Contribute to and cooperate with corporate goals.
Stress at all times the importance of accuracy and safety through attitudes and actions in order to meet the goal of an accurate, compliant, fair, and safe work environment for all employees and to ensure accurate, compliant, fair, and safe work habits on the part of all employees.
Be alert to and report any fraud or illegal activity conducted by any employees or business partners of the corporation.

Perform special projects as assigned by management.

In-depth knowledge of cost accounting and financial reporting systems.
Knowledge of cash flow planning, forecasting, and strategic planning process.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Accounting with managerial accounting emphasis or equivalent experience.
Previous applicable accounting experience in a manufacturing setting.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
