Position SummaryThe Concrete Superintendent provides hands-on leadership across our commercial and industrial concrete operations. This role is responsible for field execution, crew leadership, safety, quality, and production performance on complex concrete and tilt-up projects. The Superintendent will have direct authority over field means and methods, crew assignments, sequencing, and daily production decisions. This position requires a strong background in concrete carpentry and tilt-up construction, the ability to lead multiple foremen and crews, and the judgment to manage high-risk, high-production operations such as large pours, elevated placements, and panel erection. This is a working, field-first leadership role suited for a superintendent who can plan, lead, and execute—not manage from a trailer. Key ResponsibilitiesGeneralLead and supervise concrete construction operations at various project sites, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specificationsCoordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to develop detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or similar construction management softwareOversee daily site activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, quality control, and safety compliance aligned with OSHA standardsRead blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to verify work scope and ensure proper execution of concrete pours and related tasksManage project budgets by tracking costs, reviewing contracts, and implementing cost-saving measures without compromising qualityConduct regular site inspections using tools like ohmmeters for electrical testing or other specialized equipment to ensure technical accuracyMaintain detailed documentation including progress reports, incident logs, safety records, and quality control reports using Bluebeam or other digital toolsSupervise field personnel by providing clear direction, mentoring team members, and enforcing safety protocols to foster a productive work environmentPre-Construction & PlanningLead pre-construction planning efforts, including pour sequencing, manpower loading, formwork strategies, crane utilization, access/logistics planning, and schedule alignmentParticipate in constructability reviews and assist project management with means-and-methods planningDevelop pour plans, lift plans, and panel erection sequencing in coordination with PMs, engineers, and GCsField Leadership & ExecutionDirect and oversee concrete carpentry and tilt-up operations, including:Layout and control linesFormwork systems (gang forms, tilt tables, elevated decks)Embeds, block-outs, and anchor coordinationPanel casting, lifting, bracing, and erection coordinationSupervise and support multiple foremen and field crews across active jobsitesAssign crews, equipment, and work areas to maximize production, safety, and qualityMaintain a strong on-site presence during critical tolerances, finishes, embed accuracy, and panel qualityAddress deficiencies immediately and implement corrective actions in the fieldProduction Tracking & ReportingReview and validate daily labor hours, equipment usage, and production quantitiesTrack pour sizes, cycle times, panel counts, and crew productivityIdentify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement and communicate them to leadershipRemain field-focused, not paperwork drivenCommunication & RepresentationServe as Broughton Concrete's primary field representative with GCs, owners, inspectors, and engineersCommunicate clearly, professionally, and solutions-oriented in all interactionsCoordinate closely with project management to maintain schedule and budget alignmentAssist with problem-solving, schedule recovery, and field-driven value solutionsTravel & FlexibilityTravel as required to support projects across multiple locationsProvide leadership coverage during start-up, peak production, and critical milestonesQualificationsRequired7+ years of commercial or industrial concrete construction experienceProven superintendent or senior lead foreman experience on concrete projectsDemonstrated expertise in tilt-up construction, including:Panel casting and erectionBracing systemsLift planning and crane coordinationStrong background in concrete carpentry, including:Formwork systemsLayout and controlEmbeds, sleeves, and block-outsExperience with:Large slab-on-grade poursElevated decksHigh-volume concrete placementsAbility to read, interpret, and build from construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawingsProven ability to lead, train, and hold foremen and crews accountableStrong working knowledge of jobsite safety requirements, including:OSHA standardsCritical liftsBracing safetyExperience with daily reports, time tracking, and production metricsWillingness and ability to travel extensivelyStrong leadership presence, decision-making ability, and field
