Project Controls and Scheduling Specialist
Position Overview:
Power your future with Qualus in our Program Management department as a Project Controls Specialist. This position will provide support to the PMO group for project scheduling and controls functions. The position will focus largely on construction scheduling, work planning, and project tracking. At times, the position will also need to be able to help with and maintain project forecasts and material tracking. Electrical utility and substation project experience is preferred. Competencies required involve strong communication skills, ability to influence (without authority), and relationship/team building.
Responsibilities:
Provide project controls support across multiple capital project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Pull, analyze, and validate project cost data from SAP; identify variances and support corrective actions.
Monitor project performance against approved scope, schedule, and budget baselines and proactively identify deviations.
Establish and maintain SAP project structures and internal control safeguards to ensure accurate and compliant reporting.
Support compliance with corporate governance, project controls standards, and reporting requirements.
Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules covering scoping, design, procurement, and construction phases.
Support construction sequencing, outage planning, and coordination of utility outages.
Collaborate with project managers, field staff, and engineers to collect progress updates and maintain accurate schedules.
Identify potential schedule risks or delays and work with the project team to implement mitigation strategies.
Prepare and distribute schedule updates, progress reports, and performance metrics to stakeholders.
Assist in the development of project scope, budgets, schedules, and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
Analyze project performance metrics and trends and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
Work cross-functionally with internal departments and external partners to support successful project delivery.
Complete ad hoc analyses and assignments in support of Transmission and Distribution capital programs.
Qualifications:
Degree in Project Management, Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent work experience is preferred.
Must have 5+ years of experience with scheduling and work planning.
Specific software experience using P6 Primavera for scheduling and resource management and proficient in Excel.
Working knowledge of SAP.
Understanding of construction processes, project management principles, and project lifecycle controls.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
