JOB DESCRIPTIONAs an Accounting Manager, you will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of our organization by managing key accounting functions, preparing accurate financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Reporting to the CFO, you will handle complex accounting tasks, lead and oversee the month-end close process, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and provide critical financial insights to support business decisions. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting skills with an understanding of project-based professional services and a collaborative approach to working with creative and business teams.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Accounting OperationsPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAPManage the month-end and year-end close processes with accuracy and efficiencyReconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare account analysesMaintain the general ledger and chart of accountsPrepare journal entries and ensure proper documentationConduct variance analysis and investigate discrepanciesAssist in the preparation of financial information for tax filingsSupport external audit processes by preparing requested documentationProject Accounting & AnalysisTrack financial performance of client projects and maintain project accounting recordsPrepare project profitability analyses and reportsWork with project managers to review financial status of ongoing projectsMonitor work-in-progress and recognize revenue according to appropriate methodsReconcile project costs and billingsAccounts Receivable & CollectionsManage and support the billing personnel, ensuring accurate and timely invoice generationOversee the accounts receivable aging and collections process, providing higher-level escalation support for client payment issuesIdentify opportunities to improve cash flow and collectionsAccounts Payable & ExpensesOversee the Accounts Payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and paymentsAdminister the company's corporate card and expense management program (Ramp) Ensure all employee expenses and corporate card transactions comply with company spend policiesReconcile transactions monthly and ensure seamless integration of spend data into the general ledgerMaintain vendor relationships, resolve billing or payment inquiries, and manage annual 1099 reportingPayroll Manage and review the work of the payroll clerk, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processingEnsure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations across all operating states Budgeting & Financial PlanningAssist in the development of annual budgets and quarterly forecastsPrepare budget-to-actual variance analyses and reportsSupport departmental managers with budget monitoring and financial guidanceContribute to the preparation of cash flow projectionsProvide financial data and insights for management decision-makingAccounting Systems & ControlsMaintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controlsIdentify opportunities to enhance accounting processes and workflowsDocument accounting procedures and create process documentationTrain staff on accounting procedures and systemsEnsure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirementsTeam Leadership & CollaborationProvide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staffServe as a liaison between the accounting team and project managersContribute to a positive team environment through collaboration and knowledge sharingParticipate in special projects and process improvement initiativesQualifications 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years of supervisory or management experienceExperience in professional services, creative services, or project-based businesses preferredBackground in month-end close processes and financial statement preparationExperience with project accounting, time tracking, and billing systemsBackground in supporting budgeting and forecasting processesPrior experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment a plusKnowledge & Skills ● Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements● CPA certification or in progress preferred● Proficiency in accounting software (Sage Intacct preferred)● Advanced Excel skills including xlookups, pivot tables, and financial modeling● Understanding of project accounting and revenue recognition principles● Knowledge of internal controls and accounting best practices● Analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy● Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking● Excellent written and verbal communication skills● AI Fluency: Demonstrated ability to leverage modern AI tools to enhance efficiency,
