Science Instructional Coach (K-8) *$2,000 SIGNING BONUS* The Philadelphia Charter School for Arts & Sciences seeks a full-time K-8 Science Instructional Coach to join the team at our neighborhood campus located at 1197 Haworth St. At Arts & Sciences, students in grades K-8 engage in a unique educational program designed to grow the next generation of creative leaders, where students focus on the arts and sciences as major subjects alongside a technology-infused, standards-driven academic curriculum. Overview: The Science Instructional Coach is a critical lever in improving student achievement at the Philadelphia Charter School for the Arts and Sciences. The role of the coach is to build teacher capacity and their understanding of science content instruction, curriculum implementation, and project-based, real-world learning experiences as related to the mission and vision of String Theory Schools. A science instructional coach is a learner who models continuous improvement, and lifelong learning and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. All instructional coaches work collaboratively as a team with members of the administration and Academic Team. Instructional coaches will promote reflection, provide guidance and structure where needed, and focus on strengths, collaboration, and common issues of concern. They are responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, and providing feedback to teachers. The instructional coach will demonstrate and model a passion for urban education reform and leadership. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Education or Related Field Proven track record of instructional coaching and science curricula implementation & management Criminal history, child abuse and FBI clearances (Acts 34, 151 and FBI) Goals: GOAL 1: Set Vision and Direction - Instructional Coaches establish a clear vision that is aligned with our school learning goals and with his/her grade and content-specific learning and performance targets. The Science Instructional Coach takes outcomes-driven actions to maintain alignment with this vision, particularly as it relates to STEM education, and develops teachers to be similarly vision-driven. GOAL 2: Organize, Plan, Execute - Instructional Coaches are able to organize, prioritize, track, and manage workflow and resources. GOAL 3: Influence and Motivate Stakeholders- Instructional Coaches draw on an understanding of others to achieve desired outcomes and inspire action through shaping beliefs and behaviors. The coach becomes known as an authentic and clear communicator. GOAL 4: Learn and Continuously Improve – The Science Instructional Coach strives to continuously develop and better themselves, their teams, and the school.
