Liberal Studies - Part-Time Lecturer Pool
The Department of Liberal Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool.
We are seeking experienced, well-organized, and student-centered individuals to teach in the following subject areas.
The history of Science
Food studies
The history of social thought
The history of the arts and humanities
Introduction to the humanities or social sciences
Cross cultural humanities and social thought
This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.
Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.
Responsibilities
Teach courses in the subject areas listed above.
Prepare course materials, assessments, and syllabi consistent with departmental standards.
Engage with students, provide timely feedback, and support student learning objectives.
Participate in department meetings and professional development activities as required.
Required Qualifications
Hold at least a Master’s degree in a related field.
Demonstrate ability to interact and work effectively with a wide, culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
Relevant work experience and professional capabilities that enhance teaching effectiveness.
Experience in interdisciplinary departments or programs.
Appointment and Salary
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the California State University Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month; anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month.
Typical starting compensation for a three-unit assignment ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
Appointment Date and Academic Calendar
The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from mid-January to the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during Summer Session segments.
Performance Evaluation
Regular performance evaluations are conducted by the department in accordance with the CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future teaching assignments. Syllabi, assignments, and reading materials may be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
Mandated Reporter
The position holder is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083.
Background Check
Appointments are contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of a new background check if a faculty member has not undergone one within the past 12 months.
